His opponents might use this against him (especially Hillary). They will claim that he is linked to the online drugs trade, and that is why he is supporting BTC. Considering that 90% of the Americans are ignorant about BTC, it will be very hard for Rand to counter these arguments.
I welcome her or whomever making an issue out of Bitcoin in this election. The amount of free publicity would be epic.

On a related note, all other candidates were quoted as saying "A bit-what?"  Grin
Pretty much yeah. The others, both republican frauds and their buddies in the drone-idiot party, are not willing to at least pay any lip service to our landscape. Get it? Even lefty leaning foreigners of whatever country need to realize that the crapshoot of America needs the likes of Rand Paul for his acceptance of Bitcoin and a realist/normal foreign policy that isn't raping the rest of the world. If you're here and worth your marbles, you're for Rand Paul for US President in 2016. Help out however you can in your respective areas.

I agree that cutting the government is good, but cutting foreign aid and increasing to the defence budget by 16% doesn't sound much like "a realist/normal foreign policy that isn't raping the rest of the world" to me.

And pro-life, and against same-sex marriages doesn't sound too libertarian either.

edit: I'd like to see him gain influence enough to force the other candidates to adopt something from his pro-bitcoin policy
Defending the country is arguably the most important function of the US Gov and the way things are in the republican party and the buildup of the ISIS group by past idiotic or purposeful foreign policy moves, the sentiment remains to keep increasing the military budget. Rand proposed offsetting this extra funding by cutting elsewhere which his competitors in the GOP weren't going for, so he was trying to separate himself from the rest as in - who is the real fiscal hawk.

When it comes to social issues, I suspect he's trying to stake out a middle ground to not lose appeal from evangelicals which you'll need if you make it to the general election. Many of them stayed home for Romney and McCain before him.

An attendee Paul Hanson @PaulHansonNY tweeted on April 20, 2015: “Rand was brief but on-point in his remarks. Very exciting to see our next president in person.”

Haha. yeah, right. Keep dreaming. He's not got a chance. We all know it's going to be either Clinton or Bush again.

On being quizzed about Bitcoin regulation and national security, Paul said, “Important to keep innovation in US.”

They'll all say whatever they can to get in but its a different story when they do, sadly.

Presidential candidate Rand Paul graced the 19th April Bitcoin event held at the Union League Club and left the attendees highly impressed with his thoughts on the cryptocurrency. The event was hosted by the Bitcoin Center NYC and a start-up incubator Blockchain Technologies Corp.

Rand Paul is the running the first presidential campaign ever to accept Bitcoin in donations.

Since the event was not publicly promoted by the campaign management team, the remarks from the events will not be released, said Sergio Gor, spokesperson for Paul’s campaign. However, the social media was abuzz with details regarding the event.

An attendee Paul Hanson @PaulHansonNY tweeted on April 20, 2015: “Rand was brief but on-point in his remarks. Very exciting to see our next president in person.” Another twitter user Avishai/Jacob Cohen @vichispeaks tweeted one of Paul’s event remarks: “I’m open to technology, I’m open to innovation.”

On being quizzed about Bitcoin regulation and national security, Paul said, “Important to keep innovation in US.”
