It'd be pretty funny if someone released an actual altcoin named Gencoin even before the release of this TV series.
You can buy yourself an altcoin for as low as $25 in BTC, so give it a try I would say.
In comparison to a few documentaries made about crypto and Bitcoin, this looks very professional. It will definitely make people interested in finding out what these digital currencies are all about. I can't wait to see the full movie.
