That's a good news to hear, maybe also the altcoins will be inspired of revealing the mysterious creator of bitcoin. This guy is already so filthy rich now, congrats to him but he receives more than that for contributing a great work.

Hi Crimbit, consensus is emerging (tee hee!) in this thread...

... that definitive proof has not yet been provided. SCW's blogpost isn't the smoking gun. I lack the time and will to follow the chains of reasoning in the 'is it or isn't it' show, so I defer for now to people who say 'it isn't'. Worryingly, Gavin Andresen thinks he's the real deal. I say 'worryingly' as I am a big-blocker and if GA has dropped the ball on this, whether innocently or out of motivated reasoning, it greatly damages 'our' cause.

(Digression: 'follow the arguments not the people' is great advice when the arguments can be fully digested by someone prepared to put in the time and effort, and where the questions and proposed solutions are clear-cut. But most real world disagreements are 'messy', and evaluating one's trust in the principal arguers is an imperfect but useful *and rational* way of doing inference)

Here's part of his video interview: http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-36168863
His net worth from Bitcoin alone is projected to be 450m dollars.
Reporters are the biggest scum.
I hope society doesn't make him crazy, he sure looks like he went through a lot.

In fact, he did not prove anything.
We have to consider it fake as long as there are no proofs.

The proof could be extremely simple and public. Everyone could verify and Wright knows it very well.
He is seeking for medias attention, because they don't understand anything about Bitcoin.

I wonder what is his intention.

EDIT : The post on his blog is not a proof.

Quote
At the meeting with the BBC, Mr Wright digitally signed messages using cryptographic keys created during the early days of Bitcoin's development. The keys are inextricably linked to blocks of bitcoins known to have been created or "mined" by Satoshi Nakamoto.

"These are the blocks used to send 10 bitcoins to Hal Finney in January [2009] as the first bitcoin transaction," said Mr Wright during his demonstration.

I don't know what to think about it.

“Satoshi Nakamoto” has offered up his cryptographic key as proof.

The creator of the bitcoin virtual currency, who has long been known by the pseudonym “Satoshi Nakamoto”, has come out of the shadows. His name is Craig Wright.

Wright, an Australian entrepreneur, had previously been identified by Wired and Gizmodo, but their stories were met with some skepticism, as previous attempts at unmasking Nakamoto had not gone so well.

Now Wright has gone to the BBC, the Economist and GQ with proof that he says ties him to the identity of Nakamoto: He signed an encrypted message with the cryptographic key that was associated with the first bitcoin transaction.
