It was in 1984, when Tim Berners-Lee decided he had to do something to solve the problem of how physicists from around the world share data with each other. At the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) Lee decided to use the TCP/IP protocols installed at CERN, which had essentially created the Internet infrastructure. Soon thereafter, Lee came up with HyperText Transfer Protocol (HTTP) and the HyperText Markup Language (HTML) to create the "World Wide Web" or more commonly known as the "Web".

World Wide Web exploded and what it can achieve is for all of us to see. However, for the web to function in its current state, it was technology like TCP/IP that underpinned it. The web was built on top of TCP/IP protocols and helped by technologies like HTTP and HTML.

If 'Web' was the most significant technological advancement in the last two decades, many think "Blockchain" is the most important development of this decade...
