I think it's great that he's comfortable with Ethereum Classic project and has no interest in hindering the project. Now if the ETH community can get behind their leader and support that decision it would be great. Be nice to get a little more harmony in that space.

Some big Chinese owners of the Ethereum might not be happy about the ETC. They might dump their ETC.

I think if an ETH dump were to happen it would have by now. ETC well it's a different story as the DAO hacker awaits the release of his 10% ETC supply.

I heard he's gonna fund the development of the ETC chain why did you hear otherwise?

does it matter OP?  esp when this was most likely an inside job from the START?

me thinks the same.

either incredible dumb luck.
or some smooth kung foo.

the 2 chainETChy raised $200M, look at combined MC, the big dogs still have ownership in both, so cha! CHING!
and the double headed snake just traded at 1:1 volume against BTC.

This will be good for everyone. The original Etherem classic supporters should appeal to the miners and mining pools supporting the fork to point their hashing power to the original. Since it is ok for Vitalik to have both chains running side by side then I guess it is ok for their community to crossover and participate in the original and honest chain.

Your suggestion that miners abandon one network to support another based on what Vitalik said won't interest miners in general. That said if merged mining was introduced the vast majority of miners would support that and mine both coins (more profits). This would give both coins ETH and the original ETC a more secure network.

I doubt the Ethereum network is currently capable of merged mining since that has to be done by design. It's been done multiple times with other coins for example the Litecoin network currently supports the Dogecoin network (without this support dogecoin would have very poor security).

Definitely if merged mining is added it will help re-introduce the concept of community into Ethereum space.

does it matter OP?  esp when this was most likely an inside job from the START?

I'm not convinced of this inside job narrative. It is very naive to assume -- as the anonymous source does -- that one needed to be a Core ETH dev to pull off the attack. None of the ETH or Slock.it devs were capable of recognizing the splitDAO exploit beforehand. Hence, they may not be the foremost experts; others have had many months to analyze Solidity's weaknesses (exposed long before the attack) and the DAO code.

Speaking of the splitDAO exploit. Why did they not see this before? Don't they have security reviews and audits before releasing the code? That is mighty incompetent and irresponsible of them. The people who started the DAO should not work in crypto anymore. Please post the names of those people for everyone to see so all their projects will be avoided in the future.

Yes incompetence abounds in the ETH crew but that has been known and warned about since day one. I wonder why people are finding it a "Revelation" just now?

I was one of those who thought they were the cream of the crop of developers in the cryptosphere. I thought Vitalik was worthy to become another "Satoshi". I am very wrong for believing in them. Please point out what their incompetence are. It would be nice to read more information about them if there are some available online.

ETC was up over 300% yesterday and the hash was up to 1TH I believe, it certainly caught a few eyes from those that dismissed it so this will be one to watch, myself personally I think the whole fork was a bad idea for ETH and it's reputation, it would have been better if they learned from it and continued forward.
