When the ban was announced, there were a lot of mixed feelings among the Bitcoin community. Russia does not want to ban Bitcoin for now,
The Russian government is not capable of banning bitcoin. Russians have access to the internet, phones and more technology. It's not North Korea where you can shutdown total access to any resources. A website domain is easier restricted than a network. This is because of the way the technology was built. Internet domain technology is centralized, bitcoin is decentralized and to an extent independent of the internet.  To block a centralized system just modify one computer, to block a decentralized system visit every citizens home?

The ideal environment for Bitcoin to flourish, is not to have to bypass ISP Blockades. These people will put
agents on the ground, and you will have to explain, when you are caught. Just keep it legal, and hope their government comes around.  Roll Eyes
Explanation to a Russian agent is very easy, but it's only accepted if you have enough rubles in your pockets.  Cheesy

When I see stuff like this, only one thing comes to mind ---> Multiple personality disorder ... One moment they are saying the one thing, and the

next moment the total opposite.  Huh The ideal environment for Bitcoin to flourish, is not to have to bypass ISP Blockades. These people will put

agents on the ground, and you will have to explain, when you are caught. Just keep it legal, and hope their government comes around.  Roll Eyes

For the time being, it remains uncertain how the Bitcoin situation in Russia will evolve. Conflicting messages every other week are making it difficult to plan ahead. This “ban” against LocalBitcoins is not overly serious, though, as it can be bypassed with relative ease. An interesting Bitcoin ecosystem in Russia, that much is certain.

Russians Can Bypass LocalBitcoins Blockade

Whenever governments or internet service providers attempt to restrict Internet access, there will be multiple ways to bypass this blockade. The recent decision by Russian watchdog Roskomnadzor to block LocalBitcoins does not sit well with local crypto enthusiasts. Moreover, the company has issued guides on how to access the platform by using Tor or a VPN provider.

When the ban was announced, there were a lot of mixed feelings among the Bitcoin community. Russia does not want to ban Bitcoin for now, but they do restrict access to the most popular peer-to-peer trading platform. All of this sends a conflicted message, leaving none the wiser.
