I agree with Sithara007, although Bitpay is an awesome company it is becoming more like PayPal.

I think the main point of Bitcoin was to have fast transactions with a low fee plus a little bit of Anonymity to go with it.

This is a very bad step. If they activate the refund mechanism, then there will be no difference between Bitpay and Paypal. People are going to misuse it, to cheat honest traders.

Please read the article thoroughly. This has nothing to do with the so hated charge backs from PayPal. This is about underpaid transactions and overpaid transactions. Instead of contacting the merchant and BitPay, you can now add an address where you would like to receive the change back. Or in case you underpaid a transaction, it will be returned to you. That's it.

It's a great thing that they finally come up with this as it has been a point of attention that a lot people were waiting for. I once sent like 0.002BTC by accident more than the amount I had to pay in order to complete the purchase. I could have contacted both BitPay and the merchant in order to request a refund for these funds, but that would be time consuming and not really worth the hassle since the amount is really low. Right now this new feature will come quite handy.
