Bitcoin is a way to achieve economic freedom, but what is puzzling is the stance of many bitcoiners.
They believe that bitcoin to achieve full potential needs to be regulated and be subject to government jurisdiction.

They fail to see that Bitcoin represents the beginning of the end to all government jurisdiction. To be fair, they've consumed alot of establishment propaganda in order to attain such a contradictory viewpoint.

Ever get the feeling that movies and TV shows always give you this impression: "THE RULING CLASS AND THE GOVERNMENT ARE ALL DESERVING AND NECESSARY, THERE IS NO OTHER WAY OF LIFE, REPEAT, THERE IS NO OTHER WAY OF LIFE". Strange how that's what the general message tends to be, lol

There is high risk that even with all bitcoin's decentralization government intervention in the bitcoin industry is a matter of time - just wait for bitcoin to get bigger.

News Bitcoin - Does Satoshi’s Libertarian Statements from the Past Matter Anymore?

There are many people who believe bitcoin is the perfect solution for black market trade, tax evasion, and other frowned upon activities. Cryptocurrencies seem to be working well with these types of exchanges as darknet markets, gambling sites, and sex workers are using bitcoin for their operations. The reason bitcoin is so appealing to these kinds of markets is because bitcoin is censorship resistant and allows the end user to decide how their wealth is spent.

However, there are a bunch of people who believe these types of unfavorable activities taint bitcoin’s image. People take issue with concepts like the Silk Road and complain about cryptocurrency gambling sites. Many individuals with statist-like opinions feel bitcoiners shouldn’t participate in these deeds and that vices are bad news for adoption. Furthermore, there are a handful of individuals and groups that actually believe government needs to legitimize cryptocurrencies with laws and definitions from bureaucrats.

Well, it's impossible to tell all the bitcoiners what they should and what they shouldn't do. The bad image of Bitcoin is created by the media sponsored by governments who are afraid of Bitcoin. They try to draw more attention to the bad sides of BTC rather than to what is good about it.

Fiat is still far ahead, the millionaires who finance wars in other countries, who commit crimes against humanity use fiat.

Crimes involving bitcoin do not outnumber fiat.

However, there are a bunch of people who believe these types of unfavorable activities taint bitcoin’s image.

Diamond and gold are stained with blood... how many barbarous crimes have already been committed involving precious stones.

Anything that someone creates/invents will be misused by some people.

Take as an example the knife: the people instead of cutting the food? Use the knife to take life from others

Most of the "frowned upon activities" are being funded by Fiat , so I cannot see why Bitcoin's small involvement with this, is being blown out of proportion. We all know most prostitutes and drug dealers use cash, not Bitcoin. Bitcoin is a payment method and it cannot choose what people will use it for, albeit drugs or hookers.

The people using Bitcoin for this are actually very stupid, because these transactions can be traced with the correct software and paper work. < Subpoena > Cash is much more suitable for these "frowned upon activities".  Wink

Bitcoin is an open source protocol with no ideology, and only people hold these types of values. So, in the end, the choice of what bitcoin will ultimately disrupt will be in the hands of the users. However understanding the ideals of bitcoin’s creator is good to know and the cypherpunk activists Nakamoto conversed with.
