It is not surprising that authorities are trying to curb physical money, after all cash offers anonymity far superior to anything we invented so far.
We live in times when governments will tell us that ban of high denomination money (India) or purchasing anything with €1000 or more (France) is made illegal because it helps terrorism or mafia.
Introducing another level of restrictions and bans will not help the society - instead we will go towards Orwellian future when everything is controlled.

I don’t think so, they may try to get control over everything, but the harder they struggle to get that control, the harder a portion of the population will push to avoid being monitored in every single thing they do and crypto currencies are a way to counter that.

If cash is eliminated, banks have a monopoly over currency exchange.

It has nothing to do with security, terrorism, convenience or any of those marketing ploys.

Its about control.

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody
Trump is saying we don't need no terrorist money, but what about money that come in the form of oil? Arab cash is a big no no, but Arab goods are all fine.
Great, no cash flow from muslim countries equals more money flow into cryptocurrencies.
