It is a bait to draw attention away from the bitfinex coins that are on the move.

You think they are dumb in what they do?

Stolen coins have in their possession are more important then trying to rehack into what has been hacked into before.
They don't have anytime to do what they did before. They have been patched already and brute force is out of the question.

Who cares about some chineese exchage ..... price wont drop because of this....

Bitfinex is based somewhere in Europe, not China.

And they are the volume leaders, even after their hack and shafting their users. I guess some people are too fucking stupid to see a Gox 2.0 in the making.

I'm sure it will all end in tears, just like the first Gox.

blah blah blah sure....!

bitcoin should not be stored on a exchange if you do you are plane stupid...
For the rest I dont care bitcoin price wont fall because of this!

Listen up, jackhole.

Nobody is claiming that storing bitcoins on an exchange is a good idea. I'm just correcting your FALSE statement about Bitfinex being based in China.

Do you read what you write, or is everything out of your head a streaming-conciousness-flow-of-unchecked-idiocy?

The article doesn't mention whether there were any ransom demands. It is kind of pointless to do a DDOS without any ransom demand (unless you are an unethical competitor). In any case, they have got cloudflare now. It is a minor irritation, but better than not being able to access the website.

Point is that people don't believe anything that comes from Bitfinex anymore. It's a sensitive spot as people have not forgotten yet what has happened. Back then before Bitfinex announced they were 'hacked' they went offline a couple of times. If the website is inaccessible, then it will bring up bad memories for a lot people here. Another possibility might be that an entity is trying to scare off people by taking down Bitfinex and then to push fake news articles into the net to get the price down. People will do everything to get the price down.
Exactly!

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody
With the money they have they could buy a decent DDOS protection and stop making a fuzz. DDOS is something most services experience, some are facing regular daily attacks.
If we start writing articles about every attack we can expect them to become more frequent.

Popular cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex came under DDoS attack on Tuesday. Hong Kong-based Bitfinex has sent out several emails to its clients to inform them of the disruption, but the exchange is currently accessible - albeit only after visitors undergo a check by DDoS protection service, Cloudflare:

Bitfinex is currently the largest exchange in the world in terms of daily volume. The timing of the whole thing is obviously super sketchy.
