Well...this can mean that finally in Russia there are already interested sectors pushing for its legalization, regulation and recognition from the government. This may not be that too easy though because we all understand that Putin has all the say in the government and you have to convince first the man for the whole thing to get materialized. However, am sure Putin can see the opportunity here and will not be viewing Bitcoin as an enemy out to topple him from power.
Well, what else to take an amendment to what you want natural power, they are only what the banking sector and individual bankers declare. The fact is that Russia is not a country where you can say something and then everything is real and accessible.

Russian bankers released a statement May 26, saying that cryptocurrency should be legalized for circulation. This message comes from German Gref, who is head of the Russian Sberbank. Gref said there needs to be an honest and intelligible conversation about cryptocurrencies, because attempts to ban it have only caused problems in the past.

This could pump Bitcoin and alts if it comes.

Hmmm... The bankers could be supportive, but I doubt if the government would listen to them in this case.
For governments, it is about losing control. A country like Russia wouldn't do this voluntarily.

Now we'll get a stream of people claiming that Russia is "adopting Bitcoin" as if their whole currency is being overtaken by Bitcoin.

Bitcoin is impossible to ban, so they know that regulation is the only choice.  It's just like how governments would be much better off legalising weed because then they could control when and how people use it to some extent, while appearing like they're being lenient as well.

"Bitcoin is impossible to ban" But you can intimidate people

Intimidation is the  best the government can do with regards to controlling people in terms of bitcoin.  they can release rules and law that will punish people if they failed to report their yearly income with bitcoin.  But I guess they won't do that.  Probably they will do what Japan and Australia, removing consumption tax.

Anyway it is a great news to hear russian bankers pushing the legalization of cryptocurrency.

I think its good to know that some banker in Russia is voicing his opinion about legalizing crypto's. However, we know how Russia want to control everything and crypto is one of them. Lately they are making a U-turn against crytpo's and instead they want to have a tighter regulations. So every news that is coming out of Russia regarding crypto's should be taken with a grain(bag) of salt. Until such regulations is put into place we still don't know what Russia's stance on crypto currency.
