August 1st is Bitcoin’s Judgement Day: “Bitcoin may Need to Die”

This article was posted on Saturday, 14:01, UTC.

Vinny Lingham, CEO of Civic Keys, thinks August 1, the proposed date for the Bitcoin scaling, is not an independence day for the trailblazer of cryptocurrencies – but in fact a judgement day. In a Twitter post on early Thursday morning, the crypto investor and analysis pundit wrote that: “Bitcoin may need to “die” just one more time so that it can live forever. August 1 is NOT Independence Day, it’s Judgement Day”

The real risk is to the people trying to strong-arm Bitcoin into a hard fork.

Collectively we could change the PoW slightly to make all of their fancy ASICs turn into room heaters.

Bitcoin isn't going to die, but some people pushing agendas might rue the day they took on the Bitcoin user base.

scaremongers articles the only purpose of which is not analysis but propaganda
it says that bitcoin will die 1st of August, yes and the end of the world is near, too
in reality,it serves one purpose-more bearish info to drive the price down,so the good guys could buy cheap
I am 100% sure that if the price is right, the ones that prophess the demise of bitcoins would be bying in bulk on 31 of July

So bitcoin is like the mythical bird Phoenix then, it needs to die but will be reborn and regenerated. I like how he described it, however I still doubt on how serious the OP is about the bitcoin ecosystem. I doubt he is a bitcoin supporter. We still don't know what will happened on Aug 1 so for me I'm not going to listen to those articles, FUD's around that date. I will just have to wait and see and hold on my bitcoin that I can have total control.

"situation is blurry..." but it's gonna talk about only the worst scenario. It's biased somehow.

We have to respect the author's position and idea on what can happen in August 1...the day when the scaling solution can be implemented fully on the whole Bitcoin network. I think we have to consider that it is actually those who are just in the sideline as far as Bitcoin is concerned, who are afraid of what can happen on that date. Bitcoin holders and insiders are just shrugging off the date as just another day.

There had been many predictions for the death of Bitcoin and yet it is still standing strong and even vigorous right now. i would say that Bitcoin has so many lives and it can easily outlive all those negative prophecies.

Bitcoin is alive and is here to stay. Period!

True but still you need think about its throughout instead to think about the negative because here we are nothing without the Bitcoin , so more better is to make yourself to go back in the past , in my whole life with the Bitcoin I seen that Bitcoin get dead many times (about 3 times) for the improvement , and every time when it get got dead then after the recovery it comes with new new technology improvement with new securities options .
So here it will be more better for the Bitcoin to go dead , because here I am thinking that revolution of new btc as btu and also may be possible that they will increase the size of the block so that we don't need much fee to pay for the transaction .
Overall good for us to get independence day for the blockchain to reach at high level in the future .

Is he a supporter of the UASF or is he for Bitmain? Whatever it is he might dump his coins on one side of the split in favor for holding the other. His next statements near August 1 will really show what side he is on.

I seriously wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being a supporter of something that opts for a massive centralized change (hint, Bitmain). Point is, is he a 'legit' supporter of that stance (legit in the way that it is his own way of thinking), or is he getting paid to make him support something different than what most people here aim for. I tend to go for the latter, but there is no real proof to back it up...

Die to make room for what?
The next coming of an alt coin to replace it?
I think the Russian prophecy is infact coming true if it is the Putin coin or his bestie Viatlak. Grin

When a person like that makes such statements it only means that he has his own agenda. Whatever it is we may never know. Is he a supporter of the UASF or is he for Bitmain? Whatever it is he might dump his coins on one side of the split in favor for holding the other. His next statements near August 1 will really show what side he is on.

Another Bitcoin will die prophecy?

Bitcoin already died several times:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hlN2nel5HI

Those articles don't talk about Bitcoin being reborn. Over here, the prediction is that Bitcoin in its current form dies and is reborn into something more efficient. A lot of people are tired about the constant bickering over different scaling solutions.

It's funny how this article doesn't contain any useful/new information, but they still try to make it look that, where on top of that, they completely exaggerate everything. Fail. Only effect these articles have is that they scare off newbies. I expect a huge load of similar articles to pop up in the last 2 weeks of Juli, but then with the writer's bias towards certain altcoins to function as hedge.
