Even if this was true, it is not Bitcoin's fault. Do you blame Fiat {cash} when people kidnap people and ask for a bag full of

money to be dropped at a remote location? Bitcoin will not stop criminals from committing crimes. Bitcoin is pseudo

anonymous, and cash is 100% anonymous. Why would you chose to use Bitcoin?

I Think it's 100% fake, probably made up by her.

A clerk recognized her doing shopping (buying shoes) with her kidnapper, she was supposed to be taken consciousless by a ketamine injection on arm (with the needle trapassing a leather jacket) and they stated they released her "for publicity for the black death organization"), but I have never heard of such an organization and I think it's not even real (there was an investigation some years ago, they exist but are probably just a scamming onion page)

This story is weird

According to police, Herba "spent months planning the attack and obtained a fake Polish passport under the name of Daniel Zawada on the internet in May 2017."

he planned this attack for months and he knew she had a son. why he kidnapped her? It would have been better if he had chosen a childless victim.

Why did he accompany the woman to the United Kingdom Consulate in Milan?

it just sounds like a really stupid (and possible not even true) story.

I agree

It could still be a fake story, I guess as it is still under investigation.

That's a bit of a left-right way of looking at it, FoxNews is just as "fake" as CNN or RT. They all carry propaganda pieces, they all cover news stories created by intelligence agencies, they all have intelligence agents working at all levels of their respective organisations, no different to the corporate newspapers. And it's all very professionally (i.e. subtly) done.

But what would be the purpose of such a fake story? Maybe the model was in cahoots with the alleged kidnappers to scam the model's agent of the $300k ransom money, perhaps.

Bitcoin is probably not popular with the traditional banking cartel (to wit, Circle, who supported Bitcoin XT and Bitcoin Classic hard forks, both of which were designed to take control of development away from the Core dev team, using big blocks arguments as an excuse for it)

Story is 101% crazy

Who in their right mind would buy a people trafficked slave from anonymous sellers on the dark web? Did the sellers have 100% feedback, lol

Rich Arabs.

Anyone rich is not going to remain rich for long if they spend the kind of sums needed to buy people-trafficked models on a stock jpeg of a blonde model on a Tor market place. There's no incentive for the seller to deliver, and I can't think of a way of offering proof that the deal will be done, or that the victim is available to buy.

Yeah, people trafficking is real, but even the most morally heinous commerce requires trust between those doing deals, and the higher the risk/price, the higher the levels of trust required. And you very likely can't trust these darkweb sellers any more than you can trust the Tor market you're selling on, I mean, how many stories do you hear where the whole website just disappears overnight, along with all the users (and probably also the dealers) BTC?

Story sounds pretty fake, and that's not the same thing as saying "people trafficking isn't real" (what did you spin that BS from? powdered unicorn tusk that you bought on the darknet? Cheesy)

The story has been reported in mainstream news outlets including Foxnews. They aren't fake news like CNN - at least not as fake, so I imagine they verified the story. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2017/08/06/british-model-speaks-out-after-being-kidnapped-by-people-who-wanted-to-auction-her-on-web.html

Sorry, but this is nuts, it just sounds like a really stupid (and possible not even true) story. Even people traffickers know how to do business in a way that doesn't harm themselves (despite how much harm they are willing to inflict on their victims), and this has got to be the riskiest way possible to trade in this particular reprehensible business. Not buying this story.

Rich Arabs.

It's well known that the sheikhs have money and a taste in European women, especially blondes with pale skin. She would have ended up in a harem without any way to contact the outside world. Even if the local authorities were to be inquired about it they wouldn't do anything.
There was a case of a model, who went on vacation to Egypt. The locals wanted to drug and abduct her, but she didn't react well to drugs and was taken to a hospital, where she died. The local police and doctors said she had liver failure or something Wink Girls are being abducted every day, human slavery is a real thing.

This is the first time that I am hearing about this particular dark market (Black Death). Is this real? If so, what prevents the FBI from taking it down, just like what they did to Alphabay and Hansa?

Will this be a common story from now on? Criminal doing their acts and using Bitcoin as the facility for the transfer of funds for their "business" can be getting popular as transactions are irreversible and although the movement of the currency can be traced there are now also  many ways to evade detection.

Amongst the huge load of criminals knowing how to minimize their risks, there are always those wannabe gangsters thinking they know it all. It has already happened that drug dealers got caught by cashing out their through drug sales obtained Bitcoins at the exchange they were fully verified at. It's stupidity to put full trust and confidence into the (in their eyes) anonymous nature of Bitcoin. Bitcoin is an open book for the entire world to browse through, there is no such a thing as privacy here. In that regard, they can better go for an altcoin as Monero instead of Bitcoin. Even Monero isn't totally a safe bet, but at least it offers a far better form of privacy than is the case with Bitcoin.

A British model who was drugged and held captive for a week in Italy where she was threatened to be sold on the dark web if her agent didn’t pay $300,000 has been set free.

The unnamed 20-year-old woman is reported to have been drugged with ketamine and put into a suitcase by 30-year-old Polish-national Lukasz Herba on 11 July, who resides in the U.K.

the model was sent to Milan from Paris by her U.K. agent for a fake photo shoot with Herba posing as a photographer on 10 July. After she failed to return to the U.K., her agent alerted authorities on the 11 July after receiving the ransom demand.

Upon her arrival, Herba is alleged to have brutally kidnapped the model by drugging her and putting her body inside a suitcase before loading it into the boot. He then proceeded to travel to a remote house in Borgial, a small hamlet 120 miles from Milan.

Police investigations are underway to determine if the 20-year-old was kidnapped to be sold as a sex slave in a bitcoin auction on the dark web network known as Black Death. It’s believed that this group had previously been investigated by Europol.

This is a very interesting story just because she was planned to be auctioned to a dark web network known as Black Death and they are using Bitcoin just like other dark web sites do. Well, in the eyes of the uninformed this can be a little blackeye to Bitcoin but we all know better. It is good thing that the model was eventually released unharmed due to her pregnancy...the kidnapper must still have a good heart and not an evil all throughout.

Will this be a common story from now on? Criminal doing their acts and using Bitcoin as the facility for the transfer of funds for their "business" can be getting popular as transactions are irreversible and although the movement of the currency can be traced there are now also  many ways to evade detection.
