Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody
A businessman had 450 bitcoins in his laptop. Bitcoin gang kidnapped the businessman with his laptop. They used power and forced the businessman to transfer all the bitcoins to their account. Afterwards the businessman filed a criminal complaint to police against the gang. The police identified the members of the gang and a special group followed them in internet. While they kidnapped a new bitcoin owner the police organized an operation and catched them with their hands in the cookie jar. And also the police found tenths of mining equipments in their houses.

So the thread name is incorrect. It wasn't a bitcoin seizure but a kidnapping. Seizure is when the authorities are taking coins from someone, which in my dictionary equals theft. When you take property from someone you're stealing it but when the government does it it's a seizure Cheesy

In this case it's actually a good thing because they caught the thieves and rescued the businessman. A seizure would mean bad news for crypto holders in Turkey.

So the bitcoin is a valid property and will be protected. Smiley

Amazing story. Good thing that the police were able to successfully apprehend the suspects. The big lesson here is never ever tell anyone that you have a hoard of Bitcoin as criminals might plan kidnap you and force you to give up your private codes of the wallet. We have to remember that criminals can be so creative in finding ways to get to us much more if they are armed with information they need. These people should rot in jail and be raped by that big guy with tattoos.

Can you summarize what happened in this story? Google Translate only does a partial job and it's a bit confusing trying to work out what happened. Thx.

It is good for Turkish Police to establish a new unit to avoid bitcoin seizure.
