In our country also the the bank authorities have warned the citizens to use the btc at their own risk. As the price keeps fluctuating so much that it can fall anytime as per them so a caution they have intimated to their citizens of the country to be aware of such things and invest on your own risk.

Bitcoin's fluctuations haven't really changed, and for that reason their constant 'warnings' are useless. People always look at how much the price swings in terms of their fiat value, but what they discard is the fact that it is a pretty common market movement. 10% last year was like $50-$100, where in todays market these same 10% fluctuations are $1000. It looks like a massive difference, but it really isn't. The media and all these central banks should look at things from various perspectives, and at the same time have a better understanding of how this market works. Bitcoin isn't something that popped up like a day ago....

I understand that authorities want to warn their citizens that the investment in BTC is actually very risky, and we all know that really is like that.So if people lose their money in any way(price go down, lost private keys, hacking) then they will say "we warned you".

On the other side certainly they do not like to people invest money in BTC and other coins and make profit on this way, there is problem how to charge the tax on such transaction and if you have possibility to make profit from BTC then you will be less dependent on banks and loans.

We all know what happened 2008. and how this impact to ordinary people around the world.Millions of people lost their property and millions are in debt bondage today. If someone invest in BTC instead took a loan few years ago, today he would surely live better.

France is a little bit slow with this warning, even 3rd World's countries announced the same suggestion years ago. Maybe bitcoin become visible for France only after the price crossed 10k$?! Cheesy
Many people make a lot of bank loans and they have a very large debt to the point that they can not have food on the table, they can not afford health insurance, they can not afford school for their children and I have never seen governments advise people not make loan in banks, on the contrary governments insist that people should make loan in banks in order to improve their lives, as many banks have owners and the owners of these banks are often the politicians they encourage people to make loan at the bank.

People have always been at their own risk.
Yeah that's right! Why the government does not warn that taking loans in the banks is our own risk.
When you invest in bitcoin what you can loose? Only money that you invested without any fees and taxes, right?
But if you take a loan in a bank and can't pay it to what it leads? They calculate precents for delay, they cut around 50% from your salary to cover the debt, if it doesn't work they take your home and/or things that worth something. This ruin the life and I think it is much more terrifying than to loose the same amount of money that you invested.

The chief of the French central bank has today warned on the risks of investing in bitcoin.

Francois Villeroy de Galhau, governor of the Bank of France, said the "speculative" asset is not a currency and, confusingly, not "even a cryptocurrency," according to The Independent.

Making the remarks at an event in China, Villeroy continued:

"Its value and extreme volatility have no economic basis, and they are nobody's responsibility."

The central bank, he said, warned that those buying bitcoin "do so entirely at their own risk."

Villeroy's statement echoes that of Vitor Constancio, vice president of the European Central Bank, who said Wednesday that investors are taking a risk buying bitcoin at current high prices.

The news comes amid much media excitement over the price of bitcoin, which climbed passed $11,000 this week. At press time, the cryptocurrency is passing hands for over $10,600.

The astonishing price gains have prompted a number of notable figures in finance to declare bitcoin a bubble, including this morning billionaire investor Carl Icahn.

Like other central banks, the Bank of France has shown an interest, not in cryptocurrencies, but in the blockchain technology that makes them possible.

Back in February, the financial institution launched a new innovation lab, with an eye to collaborations with blockchain startups.
