I hope these bitcoin forks will not ever stop and there would be at least one that will happen every week.

After such a sharp rise, it is already impossible to make any meaningful predictions. I believe that in the coming days, and maybe even hours, there will be an equally rapid drop in the cost of bitcoin. Most likely this is speculation in the market of cryptocurrency.

I don't know about astonishing everyone anymore. Anyone still surprised by Bitcoin's non-stop runs must be seriously doing their best to ignore its volatility since crossing 10k. Was just saying yesterday that there's still more than 3 weeks left to the year, and there will be a lot of people who psychologically want to buy in before 2017 is over.

Then there are all those futures contracts coming up next week. Experts are predicting bearish trends after that, and I'm only guessing that some part of this sky-high price is in anticipation of futures. Was expecting myself for that to trigger the long-awaited heavy correction but I suppose with today's reaching towards $15k, even a 50% drop still leave Bitcoin well above $7k.

And we don't seem to be done yet! The price has shot up to $14,800 in less than 12 hours after crossing $14,000. People who predicted $20,000 in 2018 might have to revise their projections if it is attained in 2017 itself.  Grin

The only surprise is that happened in 1 day, $13,000 in the morning and $14,000 in the evening. A lot of people believe in the potential of Bitcoin and expect it to increase in the long-term. The CME bitcoin futures were expected to result in the price increasing in the short-term as well. But this kind of intra-day price increase has stunned a lot of people.

According to the capitalization table, the bitkoy rate is now around 14,600 dollars. This is indeed a new historical maximum. If earlier the optimists predicted by the end of this year its rate of 15 000 dollars, now it no longer looks unattainable. On the contrary, the mark of 15 000 dollars bitcoin can pass tomorrow or in the coming days and begin to increase further. Now it seems its real course for the New Year and at 20 000 dollars.

The Bitcoin train is now surging into uncharted territory and we still don't know when it will really slowdown. Can we conclude that this run is due to the anticipated excitement for the introduction of Bitcoin Futures on the 10th and the 18th? I am wondering what will happen after those dates...will Bitcoin be able to hold on to its gain so far or will there be a massive correction especially if it is true that futures can serve as a way to control or downplay an asset value? That remains to be seen but so far the sentiment overall of the market is very optimistic dismissing all the negatives around it as if those do not matter at all. Have a nice trip everyone...may this train bring us to the destination we all dream of!
