Yesterday, the Next Web portal announced worrying news about IOTA’s partnership with Microsoft — as well as many other technology and consulting companies. They suggest that IOTA does not cooperate closely with Microsoft. David Sonstebo, the IOTA founder himself, reacted to the article.

According to Next Web,  IOTA announced that it did not cooperate closely with Microsoft, despite its November statement claiming that it did. Microsoft also released a statement explaining the situation in a slightly different way.

“IOTA is a Microsoft Azure customer and wants to use Azure to test and implement the data market.”

This means that both institutions act together to test the Tangle Network, although their cooperation does not occur under any specific agreement.

IOTA’s co-founder, Dominik Schiener, said that IOTA representatives never stated that any of the companies (Microsoft, Accenture, Deutsche Telekom, PwC, Fujitsu, etc.) were partners. IOTA calls them “participants.”

Next Web emphasizes that Microsoft’s “participation” has increased the IOTA capitalization from $2.95 billion to $13 billion.
