There are those who are voicing some concerns that futures will limit the growth of Bitcoin but in my opinion I don't it will happen that way. As long as the demand for Bitcoin is quite strong and the confidence of the market is intact, Bitcoin will fulfill its destiny as the most valued cryptocurrency whose value will continue on rising sometimes so fast and sometimes slow.

Well, it definitely will limit volatility, since it's an official and big market for shorting the coin. I think the surge in cash in the system will lead to a sprice spike, then a correction. My only concerns are the big players from financial markets trying to manipulate the price.
That, and also the tether thing that could blow at any minute.

Finally, we will have the first and the official entrance of the Bitcoin Futures into the mainstream market. This is scheduled on the 10th of this month and on the 18th it would be the time for CME to inaugurate their futures. I understand that there are established parameters and guide where buyers and sellers of the futures should be following.

With the advent of the futures, some are already looking into the approval of the ETF platform and that it can be coming next year 2018. More and more positive news are coming to Bitcoin and if there would be negative news impacting on it then its continuing rise can be as sure as the rising sun.

The Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), the largest US options exchange with an annual trading volume of around 1.27 billion contracts, will enable Bitcoin futures trading at 5 p.m CT on December 10.

Ed Tilly, the chairman and CEO of Cboe Global Markets, stated:

“Given the unprecedented interest in Bitcoin, it’s vital we provide clients the trading tools to help them express their views and hedge their exposure. We are committed to encouraging fairness and liquidity in the Bitcoin market. To promote this, we will initially offer XBT futures trading for free.”
