"unconfirmed local reports" are not very genuine most of the times . People seek for official statements and proofs .
Even though the news seems to be quite a hoax , there is no doubt on the fact that why China basically banned Bitcoin from their country . Earlier , it was analyzed and presented in such a way that China banned bitcoin because of the "dark web " practices that is associated with Bitcoin .
But the main reason is that China was never interested in the "dark web" thing . Basically , the authorities just wanted to sweep bitcoin out of China in order to introduce their own crypto currency which would benefit them . They could clearly not see any benefit to them by accepting and legalizing Bitcoin .
