I saw one comment in their facebook page (quoted below), and thought that, yes it seems strange. However, it would be good to focus on the positive side, which is they will reimburse, not all sites that have been hacked will be able to refund their users.

This is extremely good news for those affected by the hack and I'm extremely curious if they will be able to pay back all off the balance for a full 100%. But nevertheless I feel like thed damage has already been done. Trust is extremely hard to gain but even harder (sometimes even impossible) to gain it back when it was lost. I hope for NiceHash' sake they've learned from their mistakes and heavily invested in making their model waterproof.

I am honestly a bit more suspicious towards NiceHash regarding their 'hack' since it's not normal for any service to have that many coins sitting in hot wallets. If I was a miner, I would definitely not go back to that service again, even while knowing they are the best in what they do. Overall, them looking to settle their debt is a good thing, especially so because of the fact that people have swallowed the loss already, and therefore can only go forward from here. Even if they end up paying back just 50% of their debt, then it's still a fantastic development considering that people have nothing right now -- it's always better to have at least something back than nothing.

NiceHash, the largest and leading crypto-mining marketplace is committed to reimburse all users that were affected by the security breach that happened on December 6, 2017.

Repayment program
NiceHash has created the Repayment program scheme for NiceHash internal wallet users and external wallet users that were affected by the security breach. The Repayment program will start on Friday, February 2, 2018, and will initially reimburse 10% of the old balance amount to all users that were impacted by the security breach. NiceHash is committed to periodically repay the remaining amount to all users in the coming months. This means all users will be fully reimbursed, at the same time and under same conditions. Every new part of the reimbursement program will be announced in advance and users will be able to monitor repayment progress. If any user notices he had not received any respective payment, such user should immediately notify NiceHash in order to receive such payment. The old balance will be repaid in Bitcoins (BTC) and not in the fiat value or any other cryptocurrency. Below you can find more detailed information and instructions for internal wallet users and external wallet users.
