wow, this worm is pretty smart. I doubt what's the hash power of a smart TV, anyone knows?

Well you know is like all those botnet, smart tvs should not have lot of hash power but if hundreds of people are being affected.... what would be the next step? a virus on our smart tv that need to be unblocked if we want to see out tv? xDD

...I will try to look at this issues and see how can I install anti-virus to this Smart TV otherwise, I will just throw this out of the window for good measures.  Grin...

haha, /paranoid mode on Tongue  all precautions are not enough, they are getting smarter xD

Well this is just like a good excuse for all those bitcoin haters around the world who want to show others how bad is bitcoin, you know, bitcoin now brings viruses etc etc ... believe me, uninformed people is the first thing that will think .

In the other hand, the "good news" is that maybe soon we will have our home appliances working on mining bitcoins xD

Now I'm getting paranoid to open up my Samsung Smart TV because of this news.  Grin

Seriously though, these hackers/malwares/trojans are really evolving and keeping one step ahead on us as far as making money out of us (unsuspecting victims). And I just this will be another entry point to attack cryptos, just like you said. I think I have to take every precautions moving forward.

Well most of these devices run some kind of Android Operating Systems, so it is easy to port these Malware to run on these

devices and Android Operating Systems are the most popular target for these hackers. You can install Antivirus software onto

most Android based TV boxes. {mobile versions} .... Just make sure you stop them on your network too. {other devices linked

to your network}  Angry

It was just a matter of time when hackers will attack our smart TVs,and it is much better to hack TV then smart phone, user will hardly notice that something is wrong on TV.The vast majority of Android users is not using any security software on their devices, and mining malware take advantage of this situation and attack on a massive scale.

Every user of any Android device should take this situation seriously and install some antivirus, having such malware on your device will couse big damage or even destroy the device with time.

360 Cyber Security Research Institute recently detected the world’s first bitcoin miner worm ADB.Miner on Android platforms. This malware can affect multiple smart TVs, TV boxes and set-top boxes which are operated by the ADB (Android Debug Bridge) switch. It is a newly emerged malware that could specially mine cryptocurrency via the android devices unlike traditional android virus. Shortly in 24 hours over 5,000 devices have been infected, and the number has increased to 7,000 by now. China and South Korea are among the hardest-hit areas.
