So what can be the reason for this move? Maybe the government right now is recognizing the fact that Bitcoin can be an asset and those people working for the requirement should declare how much Bitcoin they are holding. I am then hoping that many will be declaring so that we are sending the message to the government that even its own people are also into cryptocurrency and that they should not do anything that can harm the whole thing. Or maybe the government is planning something sinister (hoped not).
The lawmaker is basically asking for help with their Ethics Committee to identify and require the government officials/employees to declare their Bitcoin holdings if they have one. The move of the lawmaker is about preventing corruption involving Bitcoin and its government officials which I think is really a good move. Looking at it I don't see any news lately about politicians or any government employees declaring that they are holding any Bitcoins as of the moment as it is really suspicious to see.
