The problem of scaling is one of the most important current problems of bitcoin and its solution opens the door for its use in everyday needs. If on its basis it is possible to conclude smart contracts, then the role of bitcoin will significantly increase. Bitcoin will become a full-fledged king of the crypto currency.
All people are waiting for the solution of this problem and technically it can be done very quickly. But we know the position of the miners. That means we're all their hostages. I'm sorry, but the miners are only interested in their income. They do not care about the fate of bitcoin. Therefore, I do not expect any changes in the near future.

While speculators may not care about any of this, the rest of the world will. Bitcoin has a bright future ahead, that much no one can deny.

This last statement is priceless, and I really enjoyed reading the overall article. I was somewhat familiar with Rootstock, because I saw some users here in the forum mentioning it. This one in particular could actually be a big thing, since it will allow bitcoin to have smart contracts as well. Not saying this is a deal breaker for bitcoin, because it's not, but bitcoin development just keeps making it stronger and stronger, and able to interfere in a lot of areas.

Bitcoin has a great future indeed and it's almost impossible for it's price not to go up in the future, because it's simple a very advanced technology that offers solutions of improvements to our world in many different ways. The world will not be indifferent to this, so it's impossible to stop bitcoin right now.
I second that statement too: those of us here who have been in Bitcoin long enough to get to know it and understand what it is about will clearly wait for seeing bitcoin flourishing in the future

Yes, being with bitcoin long enough is a very important thing because if we do that, we will eventually start understanding it and seeing the bigger picture. I wont lie, what caught my attention for bitcoin was it's price, but I did what every educated investor must do. I started gathering some information about it, and it all ended up making sense to me. Hopefully more people will do that.

By the way, I found this article recently and I think it makes perfect sense as well. Thought it was worth sharing:

Hope so. Actually I think that current Bitcoin isn't the best existing crypto, there are more secure and stable coins. If they improve BTC - it will become more powerful

Solving the scaling issues with Bitcoin would be awesome and sidechains would be an excellent addition as well. To be the perfect crypto, true anonymity would be great, but this is probably not something most mainstream crypto investors care a lot about. It is the investors and speculators that are driving the price of Bitcoin at the moment. If this ever changes, we will see more practical features like true anonymity and maybe some kind of basic smart contract, though I like that Bitcoin is a "store of value" only.

I agree with that. But some people will care about it and the price will rise as a result.

The focus on scaling has come down right now, with the transaction backlog and fees decreasing. Nevertheless, it is important that we get the scaling solution right. We cannot afford another civil war, like what happened with large block / Bitcoin Cash supporters some time back. Segwit definitely has helped, with a number of people shifting to Segwit addresses. I am not sure about the effectiveness/timeline of Schnorr signatures, but any progress on scaling is welcome.

At last! An article that is not FUD. Market is down again and I think people are just not that motivated anymore to be involved with bitcoin or touch their holdings and an article like this somehow can uplift the spirits. We know that there would be improvement with bitcoin given that it is the most talk about cryptocurrency and its price has a big impact to the price of alternative coins. Transaction fee of bitcoin has tremendously decrease compared to the fees months ago so it is a significant improvement and if the said improvements would be implemented then maybe we can see bitcoin more as a currency than an asset.

It's just an article summing up things that were already known to those who follow the progress more closely. I however find it a welcome change that I haven't been able to spot on tint of negativity in this article, and that alone can already be seen as a minor achievement. I see that not only here, but basically everywhere on social media platforms people are madly focused on Bitcoin to offer some level of anonymity, which is something I have never even been thinking about. I don't even for a second mind that Bitcoin isn't able to provide me any anonymity, because I know where to go to obtain a second layer of anonymity, and I have been doing it for years. I want fast and cheap transactions, just that, because that stimulates usage.

The future of Bitcoin is always interesting to keep an eye on. This year, as well as the next few years, will introduce a lot of technical changes. All of these developments – especially those pertaining to scaling – will positively impact the cryptocurrency’s price in the long run.

Well, I hope technology on its own can do wonders. These technological advancements, I believe, no matter how excellent they perform, still needs a manager who will ensure all tasks are facilitated accordingly. I hope I am wrong in my belief that to attain stability, there has to be some level of regulation. Having said the latter, I firmly believe that regulation would be useless if it is not strictly complied with. Just like in fiat currency, its price will be expectedly heavily fluctuating if not for the central banks that regulates it through the power vested on it by governments. UNLESS the proposed technological changes involve a software that can ensure proper regulation is in place, I do not think it will make any difference.

Very interesting article. Respect. I am also looking forward to solving the problem of scaling bitcoin. I hope that after that the process of bitcoin becoming a real currency will begin and we will be able to abandon Fiat. The article raises the issue of confidentiality. This is a really important question. If the whales could not keep track of mtgox accounts then maybe now other prices were on bitcoin.
