Yes, this is certainly a new way to promote yourself through Bitcoin. I remember some time ago there was a thread made by a band that hid some BTC in their music video.
It doesn't amaze me at all that people are using the name that is making record hits on google search engine to push their own products. The only difference is some people aren't being smart about it and trying to sell their own stuff by rebranding it, like Roger Ver is doing with BCH.
