I'm pretty sure this is fake news.Gazprom doesn't need blockchain technology. They are a big monopoly within the gaz industry so efficiensy is not their priority. They might want to implement blockchain in order to fire some clerks and optimise their costs, but I don't believe it.

blockchain is just a way of storing and organizing your data
Gazprom is planning to introduce it , but it doesn't mean that Russia has suddenly become bitcoin friendly or passed some law regulating cryptocurrencies
and as we all know with Russia , any news regarding crypto coming from it is considered rumors until proven
talks of cryptorouble and banning/legalizing crypto has beein going on for ages there , yet there is no progress to be seen

Just like China, Russia is open to the idea of the blockchain technology but never Bitcoin or cryptocurrency all because they can have a hard time controlling that side. With blockchain technology, they can adopt and customized it according to what they want, call it a blockchain technology and make sure that the control is on their hands. Well, some can be saying that this is not blockchain technology at all and we will see in the coming years how development will be forming.

Even with the database centralized, thats a good news.
Because you are a high volume Gazprom client to enjoy the benefits from their *potential* utilization of blockchain tech? If that's not the case, there is no good news for any of us here.

People act like the blockchain tech will revolutionize economies, but financial institutions and other entities will NOT share the efficiency benefits with their clients. People will continue being used as cash cow.

It will also not legitimize this space as long as the mentality is still leaning towards "crypto being frauds but the underlying tech is an important breakthrough". Be careful what you wish for.

But someone already did, GetVegetable - fruits and veggies AIGrin. But we keep on arguing with the guy that he don't need Blockchain Technology.

Somebody beat that guy to the scam:

Now, for this whole blockchain madness, the blockchain is a distributed database, distributed databases are not al blockchains.
Many of you have used distributed databases for years even without knowing, the only difference between traditional distributed databases is that the blockchain projects started with public nodes and being decentralized.

In this case, there will be no such thing, there will be no mining, there will be no pow or pos , and the whole security will rely not on nodes but on the trust you put in Gazprom to not rewrite it as it wants Tongue

Gazprom is planning to introduce it , but it doesn't mean that Russia has suddenly become bitcoin friendly or passed some law regulating cryptocurrencies

Of course, you can't have cryptos without a blockchain but a blockchain doesn't need coins.

Putting oil and gas on blockchain is just as ridiculous as putting bananas on blockchain.

But someone already did, GetVegetable - fruits and veggies AIGrin. But we keep on arguing with the guy that he don't need Blockchain Technology.

~ snip ~
Russia is finally really going to introduce blockchein technology, and in the most important area for it to extract and sell oil and gas. Of course, except for the conclusion of contracts in electronic form and their payment. it will also be a centralized database in this industry. Although they are unlikely to open the numbers in this industry in front of the whole world, moreover, online. It will be a closed database, but on blockchein technology to increase the safety of its storage.

So with your argument, then it's better if they stick with centralized database and not blockchain technology. It will be a closed ledger and I'm sure all their systems are already in place to communicate all the data needed with proper access. They also also secure their technology in a centralized database wherein only a few higher ups can get to it.

I agree that they are just riding the hype and whoever suggest to used blockchain should be demoted, LOL.

Putting oil and gas on blockchain is just as ridiculous as putting bananas on blockchain. Blockchain only really works when it's implemented for some programmatic environment, when rules are enforced by code without any need for manual human verification. This means that you can't put anything physical on blockchain, because you will have to trust humans who verify and add the data.
What the article describes - automation of gas supply, is not new or revolutionary, people were creating automated systems since the creation of first computers, and blockchain doesn't add anything interesting to it - programmers always knew how to deal with data in centralized environment.

Even with the database centralized, thats a good news.

If the database is centralized, why would we even call it "blockchain"? It is just a centralized database, I am sure it is not a "blockchain". I mean the whole purpose of a blockchain is "decentralization". Equal full nodes being in sync all over the world.

How the fuck is it a blockchain if there is 1 or 3 central databases?

To me, All they wanted is attention.

-Hey! We got blockchain here make us famous!

This is just another validation of the value and contribution that the blockchain technology can do to any industry and organization all willing to adopt the innovations and changes necessary.

Lol. The blockchain as technology is an empty "hello, bring me money so I can become rich" thingy. It provides zero usefulness over a database system that businesses and governments could have implemented way before Bitcoin even existed, and they already did.

The thing that kept them back was purely the result of cost savings, which is what banks and governments have always struggled with. Their systems are so outdated that everything else makes it look like it's 100 times better, while their lack of IT understanding is the real problem that needs to be solved. Investing more in IT and the education of your employees would have made blockchains in general look like old tech.

The question is, do they really need blockchain technology, or just a centralized database to store all their pertinent data? I have nothing against companies implementing Blockchain because it is the "it" thing right now. But I just noticed that everyone is riding on the bandwagon as well and it the end if may not be as effective as they have anticipated and will try to roll back everything to a system wherein they are comfortable, just like a simple DB to manage everything.

Gazprom is Russia-based global energy company and is the symbol of Russian wealth and influence. Gazprom is now ready to start implementing the process” of digitizing contracts using blockchain technology. Gazprom developed prototype model would allow data sharing between contract participants as well as help protect their security. Gazprom developed a prototype of a technological platform to automate the process of concluding, monitoring and executing contracts. This system also provides for automated arbitrage and calculation of payments for gas. Gazprom will begin working with some big industrial consumers to implement the automated processes.

This is just another validation of the value and contribution that the blockchain technology can do to any industry and organization all willing to adopt the innovations and changes necessary.
