Bitcoin-based casinos were using cryptographic commitment schemes to ensure that the game is fair without any need for "blockchain technology", so transparency has long been solved, although fiat online casinos still rely on some licensed software and government regulations, because of the laws. Truly decentralized casinos could solve the problem of trusting that he house won't just disappear with all the deposited and invested money, but they can also have critical bugs and suffer from scaling problems while centralized casinos can process multiple bets per second from every player.
I don't see any big future for platforms like First Blood, games like CS:GO and Dota can easily be dominated by bots in 1v1 matches (last year an AI have beaten world's best players in 1v1) and gaming companies and governments might be not happy in people, especially young age engaging in unlicensed gambling involving video games.

Gambling may be out of the shadows, but it allows the gamblers to stay in the shadows while they gamble--due to pseudonymity.

Is this a bad thing? Why should you not have the right to enjoy some sort of entertainment without being judged? I know

several people who started gambling online, because they got labelled by their community, when they went to Brick 'n Mortar

casinos. Others was banned from these facilities, because they had a addiction. {Some even banned themselves} So there are

good and bad sides to this debate. Some say online gambling sites have a lower house edge than Brick 'n Mortar casinos, so

you stand a better chance at winning.  Huh

Not everyone like transparency  Wink
Using blockchain technology is a good choice.
Using tokens and Ethereum for validating contracts and payments in the cases presented in the article isn't bad as a start for a long incorporation process.

Gambling and betting are centuries old, and have never been known for unanimous social acceptance. While some people believe that they have a solid chance of winning in a game of chance or a game of skill, others decry such practices as leading to problems, misery, and even addiction.
