I don't think the implication will mean Vitalik to leave Ethereum for Google crypto project. If it is just a hire, then Vitalik can consider the offer but negotiate on a collaborative act with Google. As such, Ethereum will gain more popularity, usability and increase its value on the market.

I think it's a joke rom Vitalik's side and even if the Google mail is real, it's unbelievable that Vitalik will ever accept this offer with its influence in the world.

Not surprising. The best specialists in the world work for Google. Google can not stay away from the cryptocurrency market. We are waiting for something grandiose in the performance of Google and Buterin.

Google Tries Hiring Vitalik Buterin for a Secret Crypto Project

In a recent tweet, Vitalik Buterin posted a screenshot of a mail from Google with a job offer for him. He posted the mail, along with a follow-up tweet which had a poll asking his followers if he should take up Google’s offer.

I don't think what costs worries that Vitalik will go to Google. Ethereum for it is more than just work, I think it his life. And Google well it will be just work. I think that he thinks as from this offer to receive the maximum benefit without having done much harm Ethereum. Only. Cool

I did not say that having a Lord Vitalik in Ethereum is good, but he is the one holding that community together. If he leaves then the interest for the project might slowly go away and scatter to other projects.

It will never be decentralized the same way like bitcoin.

Then it'll be eventual toast.

If Satoshi had remained at the helm I'm sure Bitcoin would be a much weaker project than it is now. Once again he showed extreme foresight by fading away.

odolvlobo is explain how Google get e-mail addresses and this is just a generic e-mail sent to thousands of other addresses, they probably are not even aware they have been sent e-mail to Vitalik also. Title is also completely ungrounded, we all know that the secret projects do not negotiate over insecure e-mails and that Vitalik would never agree to such an offer.

Even if he leave his project nothing would have happened, founder of LTC Charlie Lee is sold all his LTC coins few months ago, coin is still alive. Satoshi is gone long time ago and BTC is survive to this day, so one man shoud never be most important thing in a project.

Vitalik loves media attention, therefore he published this e-mail and make a story, nothing less, nothing more than that.

But the fact that he is seen as a messiah is terrible. Ethereum will need to prove at some point that it is a decentralized project. This is essential. He could continue to contribute.

I do not know if the path of a platform like Ethereum is disrupting Google. In fact, I think that google can benefit greatly by anticipating some changes that cryptocurrencies will force.

I agree. The thing is, if the founder itself leaves the project, how do the supporters stay. That's the common mindset. I don't mean all supporters will lose trust in the project but most probably there are and it will really affect Ethereum's price.

In the twitter poll, I think he only wants to see how the supporters will react, but will not drop Eth anyway (this is just an speculation though).

If I'm Vitalik I would turn down the offer. Afterall, he's already rich (like Satoshi) being the founder of Ethereum, so, why would he like to be under the stewardship of Google in the first place?

I think Google has a secret agenda (or wishes to dominate Cryptocurrency and ICOs), that's why they banned ads on their search engine in March this year. Also, there were reports they have investments in a number of blockchain companies, and even working on its own blockchain product.

As I also wrote in a different thread, this is all very stupid. Vitalik received a stock recruiting email from Google. It is nothing special.

I am not a crypto expert and I have received those emails, too.

Can you please explain more what you mean by this ! Is this something anyone can get ? or something only offered to people that have some requirements ( Which I think it is ) !? if this is the case then what is common between you and Vitalik .

They just get a list of engineers from linkedin and send them all emails asking if they might be interested in working at Google.  I am an engineer and I'm on linkedin, so I get those emails all the time.

Here is his linkedin page: https://www.linkedin.com/in/vitalik-buterin-267a7450/

There is nothing unusual or remarkable about the email that they sent him or even the fact that they sent him an email.

How does this work? They identify people with money and then they approach them to offer Google stocks? I know this kind of
...

By "stock", I meant "boilerplate", "standard", or "fill-in-the-blank". I did not mean shares of a company.

@vit05. No it would be a very bad situation for the Ethereum community, I reckon. Ethereum's success depends on Vitalik because he is viewed as their messiah. Without him they would be lost and they will also dump their coins to search for another coin and another messiah to follow.

Also why would it be a fantastic if he worked in a place that he is trying to disrupt?

Curious to what kind of job offer he has. Obviously we can rule Ethereum out of the project as he is taking presumably  a "job" within the company. Creating maybe a token within Ethereum Wallet or a Security Token independent from Ethereum is also a possibility. A lot of things can go but overall I think that this news will be a good opportunity for all of us, as finally even if Google has banned cryptocurrency related ads they are tapping the help of a Ethereum Co-founder, either way this is good news in all angles.

Or, is this a method to offer people Google stocks, if they come to work for them? I have seen that before.  Wink ...Vitalik will

not accept that offer, because he made enough money as a founder of Ethereum and their pre-mine gifts to these founders.

Money Skeletor Vitalik has bigger problems.

Namely, his "Sharding" won't work -- https://medium.com/@StopAndDecrypt/the-ethereum-blockchain-size-has-exceeded-1tb-and-yes-its-an-issue-2b650b5f4f62

Other coins will have problems too, they just haven't reached that threshold just yet.

Should be one hell of a bloodbath when it all tumbles down.

I think it would be great if he accepted. Ethereum needs such a move to have a demonstration if it's a decentralized project. The same could happen from time to time with Bitcoin. Have deep changes in who leads the project.

The smaller the power of a small group over the future of a particular project, the better is. And he working on Google would be a fantastic moment to say that Blockchain is the future.
