Many people would just have shorted Bitcoin Cash and shouted about the critical bug in the twitter. Good to know that Bitcoin core developers have higher moral standards.

This is the truth and only goes to show you Cory's character in doing what's right for the community as a whole.

Every fork siphons off the useless, clueless and vain.

Not every fork. Ethereum Classic is the prime example of why forking off could be a good thing, and in this case it has been a good thing.

Ethereum Classic is the actual Ethereum with complete immutability of its chain intact, which is why I am glad that it has gained an incredible amount of attention lately. With how low its entry point is we can expect a shift of capital away from Etherem to Ethereum Classic, even if it's just for the sole purpose of generating more profits because of its smaller market cap.

VitalikCoin is a disgrace to everyone valuing decentralization. Rolling back chains to recoup investor's funds is a no-go. If investors can force you to roll back your chain, governments can do it just as easily.

I'm referring only to bitcoin. There are plenty of alts that are run like shit but could do far better with an improved spiritual basis.

I was more curious about the hilarious response that he as "mastermind" would come up with in the way that he was already aware of the bug, and what his plan of approach is/was to patch up the massive vulnerability.

He'd probably claim it was a false flag and continue insisting trump style even when the evidence was glaring him in the face.

But does he have the slightest input into how anything actually runs or ever commented on the actual nuts and bolts of the current chain? As far as I can tell all he does is abuse people on twitter and at the odd conference and make loud threats and proclamations about a future that hopefully won't happen.

Do you honestly think he has ever thanked or acknowledged the positive actions of one single person other than himself in the entirety of his life? You could pull the monstrous phallus of a rapist out of his rear end and hand him all of satoshi's keys and he'd still donkey punch you.
It's not about him thanking others. It's clear that anyone within the Bcash camp won't ever do or say things to favor the other side. They are only out to kill off the rest and have themselves be the last ones standing.

I'm actually more interested in the feedback from mr faketoshi a.k.a Craig Wright.

Do you honestly think he has ever thanked or acknowledged the positive actions of one single person other than himself in the entirety of his life? You could pull the monstrous phallus of a rapist out of his rear end and hand him all of satoshi's keys and he'd still donkey punch you.

Stunning, poetic imagery. Also spot on. The man is a fucking sociopath and won't stop until people call him God.

His apology/non-apology for not being Satoshi was brilliant.

I believed that I could do this. I believed that I could put the years of anonymity and hiding behind me. But, as the events of this week unfolded and I prepared to publish the proof of access to the earliest keys, I broke. I do not have the courage. I cannot.

When the rumors began, my qualifications and character were attacked. When those allegations were proven false, new allegations have already begun. I know now that I am not strong enough for this.

I know that this weakness will cause great damage to those that have supported me, and particularly to Jon Matonis and Gavin Andresen. I can only hope that their honour and credibility is not irreparably tainted by my actions. They were not deceived, but I know that the world will never believe that now. I can only say I’m sorry.

What a right cunt.

The bitcoin developers should never help bitcoin cash and should let it die as quickly as possible. But it also showed bitcoin's developers unselfish nature and the selfless concern for the community of the altcoin bcash hehehe.
They actually should even though they wouldn't receive the same friendly help back from the Bcash team.

Regardless of how much I would love to see Bcash die and go to zero, people have invested millions of their savings in that coin, and honestly speaking, we shouldn't want anyone innocent to lose their money.

No one but the Core devs even know the severe code bug even existed, and for that reason we can't blame anyone for not doing enough research before investing. It's an unfortunate situation but it ended well this time.

Bcash isn't a threat to Bitcoin, just an annoying wasp we have to deal with.

Also, the person that should give the most thanks is Jihan.

That is true. No matter what the differences between the various streams are, it makes sense for us to ensure that faith in the crypto ecosystem stays.
Not entirely true. If it was Roger Ver knowing that there was a critical bug in Bitcoin, he would probably leave it there for ever or try to exploit it himself to boost his Bcash toy.

He is emotionally connected to Bcash and it's extremely unhealthy as we can clearly see. He doesn't skip one opportunity to trash talk Bitcoin and he has even been scamming people on top of that.

They even "officially" celebrated the rebirth of Bitcoin and gave it the name Bitcoin (BCH). It's disgusting but there isn't much that we can do. Roger has a mission and he has gone all in to accomplish that.

Agreed. The bitcoin developers should never help bitcoin cash and should let it die as quickly as possible. But it also showed bitcoin's developers unselfish nature and the selfless concern for the community of the altcoin bcash hehehe.

it makes sense for us to ensure that faith in the crypto ecosystem stays. Unfortunately, with every fork, there is a split in the pool of expertise backing Bitcoin as well.

But BCH is a sustained attack on the faith in the crypto system.

I agree that the geezer did the right thing. There's a lot of money tied up in it and most of it is innocent. You can bet your botty no BCH developer would do the same but luckily none of them have any expertise beyond copy and pasting and the occasional tweak.

Every fork siphons off the useless, clueless and vain.

This is exactly why I sold my Bitcoin Cash and why I tell people not to invest in BCash. The hijacking of known Bitcoin websites and actions by these BCash supporters, left a bad taste in my mouth and I do not want to be associated with that. If you need to resort to those kind of tactics, then you do not deserve the success.

His antics in social media and the way he handle people, is definitely not my cup of tea.  Angry

In a blog post August 10th, Corey Fields relates how in April 2018 he anonymously reported the consensus bug, known as SIGHASH_BUG.
A so-called ‘chain-splitting’ bug, the vulnerability “would have allowed a specially crafted transaction to split the Bitcoin Cash blockchain into two incompatible chains,” Fields reveals.

I think this guy deserves a medal for the spirit of sportsmanship that he showed and purging himself off the "pull down" syndrome that have spread beyond normal in the crypto community which amount to a sizeable percent of what gave birth to the uncountable numbers of bitcoin forks today because all they believe as the solution to every bug is the creation of another fork which will also have its own bug for another person to discover then used as a basis to create a new coin and the circle continues.

The most interesting part was having to keep it to himself since April when it could have caused some serious damage to the market of bitcoin cash who have seen the bitcoin core team as arc enemies till now when the effect would not really matter won my heart for him as the real MVP.

Cory deserves a ton of praise for his actions, not many others would do the same.

Also I would say we should link to his original post so he himself will get the website views instead of Bitcoinist:

Corey acted in the best interest of the whole Crypto currency community and he showed that his ultimate goal is not for Crypto enthusiasts to lose money on their investment, but rather to protect everyone. This was done at a time when there were huge battles being fought and mud thrown at Core developers.

I agree with this and Cory Fields has shown himself to be a strong advocate for the community as a whole for a very long time. At this point bad news for one coin affects all others so it's in the best interests of everyone for all the coins to be considered secure.

However...

Not entirely true. If it was Roger Ver knowing that there was a critical bug in Bitcoin, he would probably leave it there for ever or try to exploit it himself to boost his Bcash toy.

This is also true and there's no way in hell that Roger would do the same thing that Cory did...but it's an indication of his true colors and how he only looks out for himself whereas Cory looks out for the community as a whole.

We also saw something similar, when Bitcoin XT was around.  Roll Eyes  We might be enemies, but we do not want innocent people getting hurts in the battle for superiority.  Wink
