I don't see much difference between second half on 2018 and start of 2019. Nothing interesting around Bitcoin, Ether and Ripple. Nothing interspersing around alts either, they continue to die.  My expectations are that the whole year will be like that.

When I look at some altcoin charts like LTC, I'm quite reminded of 2015. It feels like we're seeing the start of an accumulation schematic. One of my sleepers (Komodo) shows it even stronger.

there has never been anything interesting about ripple and the only interesting thing about ethereum was the idea which all the interest ended there in the "idea" stage.

Ripple is crap but Ethereum? Tokenized fundraising in a permissionless context was pretty groundbreaking. (ICOs may be rife with scams but so is the startup space in general. Nothing to do with Ethereum there) Ethereum brought us the first well-functioning DEX platforms too. I don't like Ethereum's general design (so bloaty) and sometimes I wonder about centralization of governance but I have to give those guys some credit for building something novel and useful and frankly pretty cool.

In 2018 we saw devastating bear run and now everybody is optimistic to see a rematch.
I think 2019 and STOs will make the year much better than last. This is why I plan to support every good ICO this year. It's shame not to with this cheap Ether.

^^ I'd agree but we will miss details of development until afterwards we realise there was the beginnings of something great.    Its very possible just so long as people are still seeing potential in crypto and blockchain as a new technology.   Sure I know BTC has been around 10 years but it started just as a damp fire, smoke only and in 2017 developed into a blazing inferno of activity.

There is some worth in the pull back, the revision and failure even of some of the less worthy ideas.   We could easily be seeing in 2019 the start of various unique ventures that become massive in future, I just wish I knew which ones exactly.   I still think people are trying (and that the world requires this development even), which makes me optimistic overall

Get over the 2018 scenario, It's already 2019 and a new ball game for everyone.

As other's have said, past performance is a not a indication of future success or failure, so I wouldn't put too much on the 2018 vs 2019. Learn to look at the bright side specially if you're here for the long haul. But cheap coins in 2019 and HODL for the next one to two years. No need to go technical and make things complicated on our end.

2019, from the historical data is going to be a consolidation year.  I have been in this market for quite some time now and the year proceeding the bearish year has been a consolidated year.  I also believe that this 2019 bitcoin is going to end batter than last year 2018. We have a very bad end of the year in 2018 just as it happens in 2012. The experts are saying now should be the best time to buy bitcoin and those popular coins that have when down too bad and hold them as 2020 is going to be a bullish year!  Buy and hold is the new rules!

2018 we have seen downfall but in 2019 we will see growth like before prices the main reason is this year timetable of bitcoin is filled up with wall street investments in crypto currency market

It is still difficult for the fate of bitcoin in 2019, it will remain in the bear market or head for the bull, but because this is still in the beginning of the year I prefer to wait.

I think the biggest difference is the missing of bear market. I know we are expecting a bull run and many people think that we closed the 2018 with 3200 or whatever close to that and now we are at 3500 and that's why it is similar but many are missing out the fact that we had seen 20 thousand dollars on late 2017 so the 2018 was mostly a bear market that kept on going down. So 2019 even tough price is about the same the price is not falling as much as it used to.

I am fine with price being stable instead of going down. When it goes down it creates this upsetting pessimistic wave and makes everyone forget that we are still ahead of everything else except late 2017 but when we are stable there is always hope of going up one day. That is why 2019 started much better if you ask me.

comparing one year to another is completely pointless. for starters history repeats itself but not the way you think. on top of that we have a very dynamic market which is always changing although at times it may not look like it.
besides you should always look at the bigger picture instead. zoom out and look at the real growth that bitcoin had and the trajectory that it has been on for a long time without faltering.

If this is another 2013 to 2015 bear run then we need to wait for until 2020 for the prices to be bullish since tha bear run last for more than 30 months but me don't expect that kind of run because of different situations now.More people know about bitcoin and wanted to invest as well but they are waiting for the perfect moment so whales bring it up yea.

As of now we can't see what would be the difference in the year 2018 and 2019 because it is still first quarter and we can't compare it but in the last quarter of this year we can know and compare which year is better. I still hoping that there will be good in this year 2019.

2019 will be better than 2018 in term of market prices. I don't say we are going to see new ATH, we are going to be rich this year etc... But the trend will reverse and I think we are going to see much better prices than now for BTC and also for the alts.

Well it think it's unfair to compare since we started quite high just under 18k to start 2018. This year the trajectory would likely be upwards even if we drop a little more in the 1st quarter. Let's see but that's how i see it.

We cannot expect similar things to happen with every year. That's isn't possible, just think of the previous years of bitcoin. It was found staggering within limited price points without large scale growth. All of the sudden last year a massive growth was attained, right now once again the market has been moving as the previous years for the next peak growth. Probably we need to have patience to experience same as 2018.

the market is not a game or a predefined loop to be repeated over and over just because it has occurred once (or even more) in the past. if anything the fact that last year price dropped in January and continued dropping most of the year should mean that this year it is time for the rises to begin because no market has ever remained in one direction forever specially something new and constantly growing such as bitcoin which can't really be kept down like this for long.

I agree with you view. 90% of altcoins will die, the rest will become the top in crypto market. They will increase in many times. I think that "bear" market will end in this year. There are a lot of posititve news in this year and I wish the situation will be changed.
Agree on the prediction but not the timeframe. Shitcoins will live for at least 3 more years before finally reaching 0 in my opinion, that being said holding them is just silly at this point.

I think that many are waiting for the situation on the market to recover and growth will begin. If this does not happen, many people can become charmed in cryptocurrencies. I think that many people had too high expectations for cryptocurrency.

at this time the coin price fell, the BTC price dropped dramatically, and that made other coin prices fall anyway. in 2019 there have been no signs of price increases, which have fallen further.

Bitcoin has been growing by warriors for the last 10 years and I think it's silly to compare 2018 and 2019. You just have to be patient. Personally, I think that 2019 will be more productive for bitcoin and cryptocurrency in General.
Yes, we all hope that by 2019 there will be a positive change. Bitcoin users will get more and more and if it is observed, the growth that has occurred is quite significant. by considering this, I am personally very optimistic that the price of bitcoin will increase. This becomes a positive value because if it can be maintained for a longer period of time then we will be able to get a bright future for the world of digital currencies globally.

in 2018 jan 28  the bitcoin price run was 500k+ $  increase. in 2019 it was much smaller at 3434$ only but still very much a run. 2019  also had.  also note at the lowest point in the last bear market bitcoin never even got close to where 2019  started before the run up. the market low was found in spring of 2015 around $220 or 5x lowest than the start of 2013 however it was an 80% peak to trough.
if history repeats 2018 will not rally, it will simply be a consolidation year. weak hands will be shook out. difficulty may even fall on many alt coins. maybe even bitcoin. we may have seen the low at 3k $  and we may even test . . i'm sure a lot of miners would shut down. network traffic would fall. 80-90% of altcoins would die.
And now the price of bitcoin is in the range of $ 3500. Do you think bitcoin will drop below $ 2000 ?? I hope that 2019 is the year of recovery, there is no other word for me except to survive and continue to wait for prices and the market to go green. Thanks!

Wait, let's make it a fact. It's not $500k but it was $11,000+ maybe you are talking about the market cap? during that time the market cap was around $193B and it's 24 hr vol reached $7B

All on the historical chart of bitcoin on CMC.

The year 2019 will probably not be the year of the peak of cryptovalue growth, perhaps bitcoin will rise a little, but not as much as everyone expects! But I'd rather be wrong
