It is a good news to see a big company like Samsung supporting bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. This will make other companies following it and it will make more people join this trending.

It depends.Usually big companies like Samsung take huge risks, because they have the capital and power to handle a big failure. If the risk is worth it,smaller companies will follow the corporate leader and adopt crypto as well.I would call this "trending".It's just an innovation.
No matter what coins and tokens they going to support on their crypto based apps for new smartphones. The most important ting to this news do not turn to another FUD and provoke the price of bitcoin climb higher, just what each of us want.

What I don't get is why a wallet needs its own coin but I'm past questioning that stuff now. I let it wash over me.
They don't need it, but just want to use the opportunity and momentum to raise money, which is what I would be doing as well, and with me many others. Not creating a coin to go with it is what sucks harder.

There hasn't been an easier way for startups to raise money than to do it within the crypto and blockchain space. The sentiment here is literally: shut up and take my money! It's purely greed that dictates here.

So, why have they(Samsung) chosen these particular tokens? The thing is that Cosmochain is a Korean project, so there can be links to relatives or something like that, and adding COSMO is more or less understandable. But regarding Enjin Coin I can't find any explanations.

It looks like enjin are developing and operating the wallet on behalf of Samsung. What I don't get is why a wallet needs its own coin but I'm past questioning that stuff now. I let it wash over me.

I stand with Ukraine.
~ Yes, its really odd for having this kind of decision yet there are some coins which is more better on what they have selected.

Seems like enjin coin and cosmo coin is already starting.

The same thing is happening to COSMO

and, I think, it's obvious that most people would never hear about the existence of those tokens if it weren't for the news about Galaxy S10.

It's not really that odd. We see 99.9% of the coins as shitcoins, while those who aren't into crypto at all look at them as being innovative and interesting. From there it's pretty easy to have a shitcoin project convince you that they are the next big thing doing everything better than the rest. It's an opportunity for many, but with time it will turn out to be a waste of precious resources.

If you also add that South Koreans in general are very much into trying new things (also explains why the weirdest shitcoins some times generate tons of volumes), it makes it even easier to understand this move.

Any shitcoin owner can really have the possibility on being included as long they do pull out some good cash to their pockets and make samsung decide to add it up.
Maybe its time to buy those coins though? Grin Not concerning for the real world use but for the sake on being hyped up and making some profits.

Samsung know how much power they have which is why them doing this is kind of odd. They must have done plenty of research and come to a conclusion about these coins that the rest of us haven't yet.

The Alt coin scene might just have a future after all, if they are chosen as the alternative coins to the two big guns.

Those coins must have one heck of a sales team to persuade Samsung to do this. I've no idea how big they are in South Korea but you don't get a much bigger endorsement than that. I guess it's because they have a smidge of real world application. Most shitcoins don't come within a million miles of it.

The other two tokens are Enjin and Bat it seems. Their price went crazy as if they'd be used by a lot of people pretty soon, but in fact, it's just pure speculation just like usual. On the other hand, HTC also released their own crypto phone with support for Decentraland (and as usual, it cause the price to spike like the bull run is coming).
Wow. I didn't know about HTC. It seem like it is going to be a new battle between corporation in the sense who's phones will have better crypto based functions. I just do not understand why Samsung is going to work only with Bat and Enjin? I didn't hear about this tokens at all.
This is indeed unique having a phone with a crypto based function as an added advantage going by the rampant cases of hackers hacking many online wallets, I salute Samsung for taking the bull by the horn by incorporating this feature which I believed will go a long way in providing a more secured mobile wallet, Its also a good news that HTC is also joining Samsung in making provision of the same feature this will encourages market competition and possible brings down the price of those mobile phones.

The new Galaxy S10 series smartphones by South Korean tech giant Samsung will apparently have wallet functions for Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin (BTC) and two other tokens. A Samsung official spoke about the phone’s new features at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain on Feb. 25.

I actually commented on this article about its effect on the price of bitcoins. Although the phone might be supporting wallets for BTC and ETH, the impact would be on the sales on the phone rather than the price of bitcoins and ETH itself. This is a good start though, slowly putting bitcoin and ETH for exposure in order to attract curious individuals who are does not know anything about cryptocurrencies.

They should have added litecoin support as it has better real world use for payment. Unless it is just a wallet and not a means of payment, but leaving coins on your phone is also a big risk

That is actually the problem as putting your coins in a physical wallet THAT YOU CARRY EVERYDAY increases the chance of stolen coins. That would be the responsibility of the owner though but I doubt that they will store tons of bitcoins on this wallet knowing this kind of risk.

Samsung will support btc and eth as well

Yeah, I understood that, thanks. But my point is about tokens, if you didn't notice.
Why not other alts such as Litecoin or Bitcoin cash? I guess here is the talk about speculation.

No, COSMEE token (COSM) and Enjin, according to this article.  Roll Eyes

We will see some interesting times ahead, if a lot more cell phone companies start developing the same functionality in their phones. The Alt coin scene might just have a future after all, if they are chosen as the alternative coins to the two big guns.

Roger Ver should invest in his own phone, Samhung and then push for BCash to be used as the only currency on the phone.  Grin

I'm expecting that other tech giants such as HTC would likely do the same. There's also one project that integrated with Sirib Labs. And I think this era is going to be different and the algo with smart phones are going to be the new craze for this year and for the next year's to come.

Anyone who purchased S10 and is happy with it?
