I have already read an IMF material, where they talk about the possibilities of inovations of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies.

Fintech's definitely shaking the system, though the pragmatic CEOs of these neobanks and what not will be the first to say that they're only keen on shaking, and not displacing the system, since they're completely reliant on the system to work for them to be profitable.

Whether or not this includes blockchain innovation is highly doubtful, at the moment. So yeah, I'd agree with Lagarde, except not just yet.

This quote of hers betrays what all these guys really think of the tech though:
"We have to be mindful of two things: trust, and the stability of the system […] we don’t want innovation that would shake the system so much that we would lose the stability that is needed."
