If given a chance better to choose that route, they know by fact that the managements are not aiming to win a title or even become a competitive squad, having another offer like that may be the best option to continue with their passions.
Unfortunately we only have one league in the Philippines that pays well, so their best opportunity is to improve and have a chance to play overseas. It's just sad that it seems like PBA has now becoming a training ground only and good that bastketball leagues in Asia are getting Filipino imports, Japan and Korea is very consistent on this.

Converge is not gonna win a title I guess, it's too early for this team to become a trash team as it's not even 5 years yet before they were acquired from Alaska and now they are already showing their true colors.
That's very sad, and unfortunately if there's a player that will likely get a contract overseas, it should be coming from a great team, not a farm team. Top players in a farm team are likely already being acquired to a strong team, they are just making sure that a certain player/s would develop his skills before getting sign or traded in giant teams like SMB and TNT.  There was a rumor that Justin Arana will be acquired by Ginebra, that's a success for him, but bad for the team and the players that will be left.

That's the real destination, unless the player got exemptional talent that they've develop overtime, they can pick to play overseas but before that, they will be in the monitoring sight by these two big franchise who control the league, before they can get the offer abroad they might be traded either with SMC or MVP group of company where we all know that each players who are in these two giant competing companies got a better compensations and very decent security from their contracts.

They might choose to stay and play with the PBA if either MVP or SMC will offer them a contract, no need to go out of the country just continue playing great and have all the luxuries that you deserves.

That was not the case for Bollick, he never played with SMB or TNT. He was able to play abroad but decided to come back since his wife was pregnant an now playing like an import with the NLEX. Also, there was Matthew Wright that was playing with Fuel Masters but now playing in Japan, and Ravena as well.  So its not necessary for them to play with the giant teams before they will catch the attention of the overseas leagues because if they have talent, they'll be invited to play.

People would understand if when they let Teng and Ahamnissi  they also have added some players with the same quality of the players they let go. Thing now is different, they are playing like an undermanned team, so when they didn't even look like a championship when the two was still in the team, now they should look like the same team in the farm division.  Grin

Yup, better when they let both players they've used their cap to hire decent players who can really provide them the lift and continue being a contender, but instead they just let them go and continue playing with what is left for them, just playing without any chance of winning the game.

Same with your assessment with the current roster, they might be weaker than those known farm teams.
This season is the best testament that they have become one of the worst team in the PBA. They are still winless, but after this long break, let's see if they could really figure out how to start winning.

They are at the bottom of standing (https://pba.ph/standings) 0-5 so far, this team still has a little hope but it will take a miracle for them to improve. Even getting at least 1 win this season, I think it will help a bit to boast their confidence as currently they don't have the same confidence anymore.

There's nothing left in terms of winning chance though we don't know maybe a manipulation can be done to burned most of those bets if ever they'll be playing against stronger team, as knowing the pattern inside PBA, there are unexpected outcome that happened, things that you just going to need to move on and forget if ever you've got victimized, I mean the rumorsa bout game-fixing though nothing has been proved yet.

I don't know what would happen to this team but adding to the list of farm terms affects the reputation the league more. and nowadays, with the social media platforms, people could hear some rumors against the league that they might be disappointed.

Indeed, but the show must continue, even if they add themselve to the famr team list, no effects for the league officiating officials, as long as they are recieving their paychecks the league will proceed.

There's no reason for them to stay in that team if that is a farm team. I think there are players in the team that has a potential to play overseas, they should choose that path instead.

..it clearly shows that Coverge doesn't play defense, no wonder they are at the bottom now.

On the other hand, even though there's a defense, Magnolia is just draining every shot at every field. With a 52% percentage shooting they did, it means they are having hot hands that night that even well defended, their shots are draining every time.

Besides, I don't expect Converge to shine at the All-local Conference. They are clear to be eliminated after the regular games ended.

They are usually seen as competitive only during import conferences. I hope they can snipe a good import in the next import conference.

Converge is really not the same anymore ever since they let Ahamnissi ang Jeron Teng go. And there's a rumor that coach Ayo will be replace soon. I don't know if there can still make something to make this team competitive, because even if they have a good coach but the lack of quality players is the major problem I see in this team.

It was a good start but after they let Teng and Ahamnissi its obvious that they are  not here to compete,  it's an easy negotiation with players who can provide decent numbers,  most of the good teams are willing to pay the price just to keep their competitiveness and have that chance winning the game, but it was different with how Converge doing it now, they are just playing to continue their stay from the league but in terms of trying to reach the finals there's no trace from the management to increase their chances, and with rumors that coach Ayo will be replaced it adds up to the point  that  they might be a part now of a farming team.

People would understand if when they let Teng and Ahamnissi  they also have added some players with the same quality of the players they let go. I guess aside from promotions there are money making business that being produce, maybe with those many gambling sites that being offered and with those rumors about game fixing we really can't tell if those big bosses are also involve with gambling.

This will put the reputation of Ramon Ang at risk and I doubt the will do that. Game fixing if it's present  in the PBA, then we can say that those who are in control of the PBA are making big money from it, and I think 1 Billion monthly income is just too easy considering the league is already popular that could gather bets outside in the Philippines as well.

I don't know if how he is related to atong Ang, but his operation before which is the E Sabong, he is making a 3 billion pesos monthly income. (GROSS).
And the market is only within the Philippines, how much more this PBA games.

This is why there’s a big politics in PBA because they are being controlled by billionaires and with this, many speculations about fixing game especially a top teams losing to its sister team. Well, what can we expect from PBA officials, they are just running the system without having any stand with their rules and regulations. Let’s just enjoy watching the games and just bet if you think its a safe one and not a fixed game.

Did you guys watch the PBA all star?

Me, I have no time to watch but I just browse on the news and found out that the 3 point contest was already over.

And guess who the winner is... Its Calvin my man,,, not Abueva but Oftana.

BACOLOD -- Calvin Oftana graced the 2024 PBA All-Star festivities presented by Arena Plus with a great display of long-distance shooting, blowing away Paul Lee's title repeat bid and marking his own rise as three-point champ at the University of St. La Salle Gym here Saturday.

Oftana barely made the championship round with 22 points in the elims but waxed hot with the title on the line, bombing away 25 to beat Lee (20) and Chris Newsome (15), and becoming the third TNT player to win the three-point shootout after Jimmy Alapag and Renren Ritualo.

Here's the final round highlights.

I also didn't watch the game thanks for the update and I'm expecting him as he's really a legit outside shooter a good grasp of the ball his follow thru is really nice to watch, he's a promising star TNT needs to find help for him, the very reason why they are still aiming for Mikey as pairing this two young stars will form another competitive squad considering Poguy still doing a good damage a three man scorers who can really bring something for the team, just a sets of good roles players especially a good big man for the rotation, by the way congrats for those who bet for him I on't know if there's available odd for this but if in case there was.

They choose to be a part of a farm team I guess  they don't want to waste  money and instead  they are using their participation to free for something that benefits their business,  while also gaining something from the higher franchise,  as we know how the management works and how the league governors and commissioner are working alongside to make it legal.

There's nothing fans can do to push the league to bring back those old glory they will just go with the flow and accept anything that will be offer and keep it the way it is now.

They are in the PBA to advertise their company, but PBA is not getting a good feedback from the people, so I don't think it will work. But as they say, good or bad publicity, it still is a publicity, so maybe it will work. However, for a real fan like us, we like to see this old league to grow and be competitive, but it will not happen if monopoly within is very strong, they need to eliminate that and that will only happen if they'll add more teams and eliminate the farm teams.

PBA has the worst fan based that makes it not profitable anymore for new team especially small to gain attention on this league. If your team is not Ginebra definitely you are just wasting money on this league. Most of the Filipino preferred the known team such as Ginebra and SMB while the rest is just another brand. Unlike on NBA, they have the support per state that’s why there’s a loyal fan base created based on the team location.

PBA has no future if they keep doing the same pattern like before because only big brand like San Miguel and MVP are the only companies benefiting on it. MPBL should gain more support and better to have the name of PBA because it’s the league that has a balance fan base. This Ginebra and other companies should just sponsors MPBL team and create the real PBA.

I think even SMB are wasting money also due to the expenses they are paying for the venue and the players.

See how much they are spending for the team, and I'm not sure they are really getting the returns expected.

Quote
SAN Miguel Corp. head Ramon S. Ang revealed the conglomerate spends P1 billion annually for its three PBA teams San Miguel Beer, Magnolia, and Barangay Ginebra.

In a wide-ranging interview with veteran journalist Anthony Taberna, Ang admitted it was the high cost of running the three ballclubs that prompted him to recommend ceasing the company's basketball operations more than once, the last time during the pandemic.

RSA says SMC spends P1 billion annually for PBA teams' operation

What I understand before teams are willing to spend money to promote their business as PBA got a wide range of scope but with how PBA is doing right now, I don't know if how Boss RSA manage to recover the amount that he's spending for his 3 or maybe more companies inside the league, I mean maybe as farm teams are also been rumors that he already got a control behind, I guess aside from promotions there are money making business that being produce, maybe with those many gambling sites that being offered and with those rumors about game fixing we really can't tell if those big bosses are also involve with gambling.

But, like what the post above you, there's nothing to expect if the concept continue like this, only 2 big campanies will benefits and will compete with the title.

Unless, another franchise will try to compete but I'm not sure if how they can throw money like the way Boss RSA and MVP's doing right now.

There's possibility that they will only become a farm team, with their quality of players, it's not gonna compete with the good roster of the strong teams, their 2nd unit might even be better than the main unit of the converge. See the 2nd unit of SMB, they have Teng, Romeo, Trollano, Tautuaa, and Jericho Cruz I guess.. So, we see the difference, and if SMB could afford this kind of quality players, how can a converge them would be able to compete with them.

People may criticize SMB for not following the salary cap ( if there's any), but we can always criticize theses so called farm teams for not being able to come up with a required budget to pay based on standard salary.

As if we don't know what's happening within the PBA. If we are looking for a league that is fair then that should not be the PBA. Some of the players have criticized the way it was manage. I mean, why get a team to be part of the league if they aren't competiting anymore. I would understand that a team would struggle as that's normal, even Ginebra have struggled before they sign coach Tim, but these teams like DYIP or KIA and Blackwater has always been struggling, season after season like there's no improvement at all, they even get worst, and now there's converge which was suppose to be a good team since the players were alaska players that was bought by converge.

They choose to be a part of a farm team I guess  they don't want to waste  money and instead  they are using their participation to free for something that benefits their business,  while also gaining something from the higher franchise,  as we know how the management works and how the league governors and commissioner are working alongside to make it legal.

There's nothing fans can do to push the league to bring back those old glory they will just go with the flow and accept anything that will be offer and keep it the way it is now.

..it clearly shows that Coverge doesn't play defense, no wonder they are at the bottom now.

Good news for this coach.

Phoenix coach Jamike Jarin signed to a three-year contract extension

Good for him, his team had an impressive run last governor's cup, they reach the Semi Finals and their import won an award on that. But we can't deny that he is really a good coach as although his team is lack of experience but they were able to give Magnolia a real challenge, it's just unfortunate that they fail to reach the finals, however, reaching that far is already big.
