If twitter will start banning people from the crypto industry is going to be a huge mistake.
There are a lot of users-clients- of Twitter that come form the crypto space and this means that they are going to destroy one of their largest target groups thus they are going to lose money.

Very old problem and Twitter and FB were forced only last year to do something about it (clickbots right?). And there is a new Wired article about a young hacker who helped build one of the biggest botnets, if he wanted he could make anything trending in 1 day if he was thinking of social media!

I do not understand this story. How can you fight against what is not illegal. In such cases, in a decent society, they simply express their opinion, criticize and prove the negative aspects of the phenomenon. It is illegal to fight with the help of persecution and prohibitions, this is an attempt on the main property of a person - freedom in a broad humanistic sense.

The same thing happened several months before one of the well-known Youtuber who launched his campaign that YouTube fights cryptos "considering himself the only representative of cryptocurrency."
Now he takes advantage of the same thing to get free publicity, because of the sympathy that might happen to him.

If those platforms decide to start a war, the effect will be noticeable, not  "Any tweets that I post get way less impressions than normal."

I stand with Ukraine.
@mindrust. Agreed!

I have another speculation. If it was not clickbots that stopped because they are on quarantine, maybe Mike Dudas is an outspoken Trump supporter on Twitter. Jack Dorsey is a democrat hehehehe.

I bet most of his 40k followers look like on your picture in the OP. Smiley So, no, Trump has nothing to do with it, it's just the quarantine.

When the quarantine is lifted, the "shadow-ban", that actually exists only in Duda's head, will be miraculously lifted as well.

Bullshit. CEO of twitter is a die-hard bitcoin fan. It is a clickbait or they violated some rules of twitter and now trying to twist what really happened. Either way I don't see twitter going to war with crypto.

He's just one guy, albeit a powerful one. You can dig the concept but loathe the culture that it creates.

Their system as a whole must deal with so much strife created by crypto Twitter accounts that I'm surprised there isn't an overt policy against it, or at least stricter conditions than other areas. It must be more trouble than it's worth.

If this shadow ban has some truth in it I sense that these is only caused by scams/fake giveaways happening in Twitter and there only solution to lessen the damage is to include everything crypto related with the ban. Scams are really worsening in any social media websites right now and it has come to point that they even used Jack Dorsey's name and interview video to create a fake livestream channel in Youtube so that they can fool people into sending some crypto. If this is Twitter's way on how they will retaliate with the scams going in their website I don't see any wrong with it, this might just be temporary until they have found a proper solution to filter out scams from other crypto-related pages/tweets in their website.

It happened to me long ago, I used a trick I knew with their advertising platform and guess what? With a VCC loaded with bitcoins  Cheesy

Later they suspended my 7 years old account with no warning. I was so upset since it was a moneymaker for me, with 4 digit numbers monthly.
It took me almost 2 years to get it back with an excuse email explaining their algorithm flagged my account as spam wrongly..

I wouldn't say it's war, if you remember 3-4 years back we had a wave of people suspended for posting about crypto, I believe their algorithm is often drunk

@gentlemand. It was only the bitcoin news media influencers that noticed and were beginning to worry because their influence might be growing smaller hehehe.

In any case, our forum thread bumping farm should go to Twitter. Their service is needed hehe.

Can't say I've noticed anything different. It smells like these people have some sense of entitlement.

I would not be surprised if Twitter did have some sort of anti crypto algorithm churning away in the background. I would've thought the misery/ball ache vs profit ratio was horrifically skewed towards the former.

@hatshepsut93. It also appears that Mike Dudas is not aware of the possibility that his impressions, that might have come from an office of clickbots liking his posts, might have closed because of the coronavirus quarantines hehehe.

Sounds like a clickbait, some very obscure dudes are saying that they are shadow banned because they get less impressions than usual, which is not what shadow banning means, they would get zero impressions if it was the case.

And I check Twitter daily, and all the crypto accounts that I'm subscribed too, mostly Bitcoin Core devs, are still there, and my timeline is full of their posts just as usual. Maybe some shitcoiners got hit, and if its the case, I say it's about time, they have always been engaging in shady stuff like buying fake retweets, likes and comments, and all they do is promote ICO scams and other crap.

Mike Dudas and Neeraj Agrawal have never used bitcointalk.org, I reckon hehehe. It appears that they are innocent of the certainty that there are farmed accounts and clickbots all around the internet.

That Forbes journalist should investigate why the clickbots stopped!

Now, some influential members of the bitcoin and crypto community have complained Twitter has "shadow-banned" them, limiting their reach and impressions.

"They’re doing it, people," tech investor and founder of bitcoin and cryptocurrency news and analysis website The Block, Mike Dudas, said. "Crypto Twitter has been shadow-banned. I’ve noticed this on my account this week."

Dudas was commenting on a complaint made by crypto developer Anthony Sassano who said: "Any tweets that I post get way less impressions than normal."

"I think [Twitter] limited tweet reach [and] impressions," said Neeraj Agrawal of Washington D.C.-based cryptocurrency policy think tank Coin Center.
