IMHO, this is a great article finally. I like the fact that Coindesk spends some time to dig more into the bitcoin technical aspects. Being a non-technical user it is nice when articles like this one explains in simple words what is happening about these bitcoin upgrades.

Considering that Taproot is one of those techy upgrades, I find coindesk's stance quite good in using some common language to explain what it does.

This article unfortunately doesn't explain much about what Taproot will actually do to the Bitcoin network. It'll be good for privacy by hiding multisig and timelock transactions, which will also help raise the TPS rate and reduce transaction fees.

I agree with Dashjr that the best option is for node operators to run BIP8 (true) software and reject non-Taproot blocks. The fees on Bitcoin transactions are so much higher now than they were when I started using Bitcoin.
