The strongman competition rarely gets the attention of the general public but actually this sport looks very challenging during the heaviest weight rounds, I am interested in Oleksii Novikov (UKR) has lifted 1,185 LBS in the 2020 WSM competition, I am sure he will be the strongest contender to win the 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic competition .

I agree. This sports is not really widely-known. Perhaps because of lack of information about it over the Internet. But this sports is actually comprised of weightlifters in which people are usually into. Maybe it just happens that some people aren't really digging deeper about it nowadays. However, because of mainstream media it paved its way to some people who became into it after watching a thing or two. It's not as popular as other sports, but it is slowly becoming known. Hopefully, the social media would be an instrument for it to flourish even more. Although not everyone is really into weighlifting and the gruesome and extensive strength exertion, still, some people find it fascinating and entertaining to watch. Betting on it with the use of crypto aside from the traditional fiat currency could make an impact in spreading awareness about it being related as well in bitcoin betting. There are many strongmen competitors who show a lot of potential and are worth to look forward to.

I enjoy watching this sport. The participants of this sports is mainly weightlifters I mean the majority of the spectators. And it's a large niche and bitcoin is yet to be adopted in this sport. People placing bets using Bitcoin on such an interesting game will help publicize the currency. I can recall Mark Henry that won the strongest man in the world years back. He pushed a truck by dragging a rope tied on his body to the vehicle. It's been long since I watched this sport and it seems like people who are not into weightlifting easily forget about this sport.

I think it could be due to the stigma that, quite frankly, the WSM competition brought, and that is one of a freakshow spectacle. And it's really much more than that. It's the pinnacle of human capability regarding strength and should be treated the same as powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, and so on. Nowadays athletes are way more accessible and their personalities are directed more to the casual viewer of the sport than to the die har fan.

It's incredible especially in squat. For instance Licis weighs 160 kg and manages to squat more than 2.5 times his own weight! This is playing with fire because when you put 1x your weight on your shoulders you're already straining your joints. 2x your weight is usually like 50/50 chance of injury as you never know what joint or tendon is going to give up. It's beyond your own control and I've seen people's muscles rip and fail while lifting.

I guess this sport is not as popular as for instance MMA because most federations modify the disciplines a bit. In one you may end up carrying rough stones, in the other polished stone balls. In one event you press a wooden log and in another it's a barbell. It's not as standardized as a typical olympic sport and it's not as strict towards doping.

Yes, those issues you mentioned are a big factor, but as the general public view towards doping in sports is shifting, so is the view of sports that were notorious for doping. And yes, the discrepency in disciplines causes a bit of confusion to the more seasoned viewers, let alone new spectators.

Let me know what are your thoughts and shoot questions if you are unfamiliar with the sport.

For the podium finishers, I am betting on Martins, Tom, and Oleksii.

It's an interesting sport, incredible to see the capacity of the human being and the challenges he can overcome.
However, as the OP himself mentioned, it is a sport that still needs to evolve a lot in terms of visibility and support.

In Brazil, for example, we have the athlete Rodrigo Gomes, current Brazilian champion for Static Monster and who also accumulates achievements of two-time Uruguayan champion, Bolivian runner-up and South American champion. He is qualified for the Arnold South American but has no support to go to the competition.

Even though, and I have to stress this, the popularity of the sport has grown mostly due to social media platforms like YT and channels like Rogue that have free streaming, and more outspoken and recognizable athletes like Haphthor, Martins, Eddy Hall, and Brian Shaw. So it's definitely moved forward in general acceptance-

And here are the full results from the Reddit mega-thread.

Ok, so I was wrong on one prediction it was Luke Stoltman who got the podium finish, not Tom. Have to say he pleasantly surprised me. The Stoltmans have been killing it since joining forces with Dan Hipkis. And Martins and Oleksii, those two are completely dominating events.

If anyone is interested in watching how the events are unfolding, Rogue is streaming everything. https://www.youtube.com/c/roguefitness/videos

The first day was interesting, to say the least. Some names I haven't expected to be placed that high right away had great showings, some others have had not such stellar performances (Stoltman brothers, JF on the DB press). Mister Consistency Martins Licis seems to be doing just what he planned, despite having issues with his pressing for the last 2 years due to injury and tweaking his back when squatting during preparations for this event.

This is the annual strongman competition that's held at the Arnold Classic in Ohio. The sport of strongman has been underrepresented in the crypto betting world, but maybe that could change if significant interest is shown, the sport itself has gained much popularity over the years. This is one of a handful of top strongman competitions (the others so far being World Strongest Man, Rogue Invitational, WUS and Giants Live).

Let me know what are your thoughts and shoot questions if you are unfamiliar with the sport.

For the podium finishers, I am betting on Martins, Tom, and Oleksii.
