Nayib Bukele has become a very popular political figure in El Salvador as a fruit of the many things he successfully done for the people. I am aware of some accusations of this and that but suffice it to say majority of the El Salvadorans so far approved of his policies and accomplishment. I know that this man is not perfect but no one is...better that we have him in El Salvador than somebody else that will just make the nation go to waste and be stagnant. And since he is one big supporter of Bitcoin then that is indeed a big plus...and that is for now he is the darling politico of the Bitcoin and crypto industry.

Good to read about this. He is likely a good president. A president that can think that way to legalize bitcoin as a legal tender in a way the dollar they are spending is not affected. It is a president that consider people's freedom. He has my respect the way he legalized bitcoin by making buying and selling of goods and services to be paid in bitcoin or dollar in a way no merchant can reject the buying but in way the merchant can decide to automatically convert the bitcoin to dollar, or the dollar to bitcoin when the buyer is sendinf the money.

Let's hope there are more leaders like him and fewer politicians who are only out for their own power and who are more than willing to trade other people's freedom to enrich themselves and their families.  Anyone who thinks fiat is doing anything but hurting the vast majority of people with the extremely regressive hidden inflation tax and the resulting continual recessions is naive. Not to mention it allows the so-called elites to spend money they don't have putting future generations in debt and destroying a country by destroying the currency.

Agreed. I was a skeptical about Nayib Bukele before, however, after watching an interview with him, I respect him as a person. I might not respect much of these politicians, but Nayib Bukele's views and awareness are very much similar to many people in the cryptospace community. He hates the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank for offering unfair terms to 3rd world countries and it appears that he is trying to change this. I would speculate that all future loans from the IMF and the World Bank might have terms that would be good for El Salvador.

President Nayib Bukele, a pioneer in introducing the law that made bitcoin legal tender in El Salvador, has been reelected as president of the country in the ballot completed on Sunday. The Latam leader, who will reportedly continue implementing bitcoin-related policies, won by a landslide, scoring 85% of the popular vote.
The truth is, this is a great global example that when a government only governs for its own benefit and for the wealthy elites, the population can eliminate them in any case. Those who criticize Bukele are those who benefited from the criminal situation that existed, those who stole from public coffers and from the families of criminals. There is no perfect system, but Bukele is a president with common sense, and that hurts many. As long as the country stays on the path of development and the rights of honest Salvadorans are respected. His goals will be achieved.

Bitcoin Pioneer Nayib Bukele Reelected in El Salvador by a Landslide

President Nayib Bukele, a pioneer in introducing the law that made bitcoin legal tender in El Salvador, has been reelected as president of the country in the ballot completed on Sunday. The Latam leader, who will reportedly continue implementing bitcoin-related policies, won by a landslide, scoring 85% of the popular vote.

Bitcoin Advocate Nayib Bukele Gets Reelected With 85% of the Popular Vote

Nayib Bukele, the current president of El Salvador, won the presidential election on Sunday by a landslide, an outcome that was predicted by mostly all local polls and reports. The leader, who has been vocal about his support of Bitcoin and introduced the disputed idea of establishing bitcoin as legal tender in a country for the first time, agglomerated the support of most of the Salvadoran society, scoring at least 85% of the popular vote.

Celebrating his victory, Bukele stated:

Quote
We have won the presidential election with more than 85% of the votes and a minimum of 58 out of 60 deputies in the Assembly. A record in the entire democratic history of the world.

Furthermore, Bukele invited the Salvadoran people to celebrate the victory in the National Palace.

Felix Ulloa, vice-president of El Salvador, had declared that if Bukele won the presidential ballot by a landslide, he would deepen the application of bitcoin policies, like the program of giving passports to bitcoin entrepreneurs and the issuance of the Volcano bonds, that would provide part of the funding for the construction of Bitcoin City, a planned tax haven for crypto companies.

Even with the popular vote on his side, Bukele’s reelection is surrounded by controversy, given that he received a leave of absence in 2023 to be able to be present at these elections as a candidate. A Bukele-controlled national tribunal established this was a requirement to be reelected back in 2021, a decision that was considered unconstitutional by his detractors.

Nonetheless, Stacy Herbert, director of the National Bitcoin Office (ONBTC) of El Salvador, remarked on the historic victory for the world’s democracy, informing that the previous all-time widest margin for a democratic election was 56.2% in Portugal in 1991.
