Denmark is World Champions 4th time in a row! They haven't suffered any defeats in World Championships since 2017. What a dominance! Croatia tonight played very dirty, it's understandable, but even that didn't helped them much. Anyway, that was great tournament for Croatia, I'm sure they will get very warm welcome back at home.
Feeling sad for Portugal, they were so close from bronze medals. For France it's just another medal, for Portugal it would be history.

i think that the two semi-finals will be just as close and the last minutes or even seconds will be decisive as to who will go through to the final
for portugal it is already a great success to be among the last four nations - the other three are/were also at the top of the bookmakers' rankings
First semifinal between France and Croatia wasn't close. And it went to opposite direction than most of us expected. Croatia was leading from beginning, always keeping confident distance. This is most obvious example of home walls effect. for portugal it is already a great success to be among the last four nations - the other three are/were also at the top of the bookmakers' rankings
But in the final Croatia won't have such advantage. And I still think that they're fighting to become best of the rest, as I don't see them making challenge for Denmark.

As expected, Denmark achieved win against Brazil and miracle didn't happened. Denmark were leading from beginning whole 60 minutes.
Saw only last 10 minutes of Portugal - Germany (all because of Champions league 18 games). It was game of 2 equal teams, nothing surprising that extra time was needed. Portugal wins it by scoring decisive goal with 5 seconds remaining.

I can't believe how Hungary wasted 4 goal lead in few minutes. Everything started from 2 minutes suspension and then it looks Hungary lost their cool heads. Huge win for Croatia in fron of their home crowd.
Great match between France and Egypt. It looked that France will run away after powerful end of 1st half, but Egypt stayed in the game until the end, but that wasn't enough. They equalised score with few second left, but then France got winning goal to empty net with 0.3 second remaining. Epic ending, heartbreak for Egypt.

Without any doubts Brazil reaching 1/4 final is biggest surprise from several recent championships. Beating Norway, Sweden and Spain is something that was impossible to predict. Yeah, they don't stand a chance against Denmark, but anyway, 1/4 final is huge achievement.
Portugal vs Germany is most difficult pair to predict and also, I see Hungary capable to beat Croatia.

Boring part of championship is over, now time for main round and serious fights. In general, things in preliminary round ended as expected. Only big upset was Brazil win against Norway which let them to finish in 2nd place. Egypt win against Croatia is a bit unexpected, but Egypt is one of few teams outside Europe which have good level of handball.
And there is one not so common thing - 2 of 3 Czech Republic games ended with a draw, in handball such things doesn't happen for same team often.

I was right about Czech Republic - Switzerland game was without favorite as it ended with draw. Same outcome in North Macedonia - Hungary game, when I saw odds of game, I thought that Macedonia is understimated a bit. And first huge upset is Brazil win against Norway.
Today again almost all games with huge favorites wins, only close game was between Austria and Qatar,, which ended with Austria win

Damn, Denmark win was brutal. It was obvious that it will be big, but didn't expected that they will win by 25 goals. And didn't realized that Italy didn't played in World Champinship for so long.
8 games played today, most games probably will be one sided, simply in group stage level difference between teams is huge, especially when we talk about teamsfrom other continents. Czech Republic - Switzerland is only game today which don't have huge favorite.

italy returned to the world handball championship stage after a 28-year absence and immediately rewarded itself with a win against tunisia.
in porec (croatia) austria took the first step towards a successful world cup by defeating kuwait with an 11-goal difference

I expect Denmark to be the champion in this tournament as well. They are entering this tournament as the last world champions. I am sure they will want to defend their title. Norway is also a strong opponent. In the 2019 tournament, Denmark defeated Norway in the final without losing a single match, ending the tournament with a decisive victory and the championship. I think there will be a similar scenario in the 2025 tournament. ) Will not say nothing new - Denmark is main favorite to win another title and France looks like their main rival. the 2025 men's world handball championship will be the 29th event hosted by the international handball federation. the tournament will be held in croatia, denmark and norway from january 14 to february 2, 2025. it will be the first world championship to be held in three countries for the first time.
the matches will be played in 3 arenas each in croatia (zagreb, varazdin and porec) and in one arena in each of the cities of herning (denmark) and oslo (norway)
