Read it up https://www.digitaltrends.com/computing/nvidia-rtx-2080-ti-graphics-cards-dying/

What a major flop for Nvidia and it does worth more than a thousand bucks even if i do have the money i wont consider this.

There is a lot of information on the Internet that the first samples of these video cards are unreliable and fail. Probably because of this, they were recalled and we have a shortage in these video cards. They have no advantage for mining at this price over Pascal generation.

I used to be a 1080ti owner, and I have to say I'm disappointed in the new series. So I too wouldn't rush into buying one of these any time soon. It looks like a card barely improved over 1080ti which comes at a rather expensive price. No point even looking into them, unless they do something drastically with the price. The realistic price should be about $800.

Personally, I would not buy 2018Ti under any circumstances. Users of this model report a powerful failure rate, which most often happens under a heavy load on the card.
The other side of the medal are the issues already mentioned in this thread, so I will not repeat them.
Nvidia in this generation completely did not show off.

Beside the really high price tag for the card Nvidia publishing driver after driver out shows that these cards the new 2xxx series have been problematic so far.

I think the same case is with 2080 Ti as it was with 1080 Ti when mining Ravencoin was for a lot of time truly profitable in big amounts. The programmers just have to tweak some settings before coming out with a good miner for mining specific shitcoins which can turn much profitable in the future.

2080TI is an amazing gaming card but a horrible price/performance mining card. No miner will ever buy these, even worse than Vegas. (p/f wise)

Yeah I don't think miners are buying these in groves. Most likely nvidia not making a lot of these and supply higher than what they expect. Plus they are still having to rma a bunch of cards.

They are not in stock because nvidia is slow playing the release, and it wouldnt surprise me if they are scrambling behind the scenes to figure out the memory issues the Ti's in particular have been having

Can't keep them in stock, even at ~$1200. This makes me think that a bunch of miners know something I don't know about the mining potential of this card. Is there a chance it'll be like the 1080Ti used to be, i.e. making huge returns mining random oddball coins?

I wonder if a clever programmer can find a way to convert some of the non-matrix manipulations for some algos into matrix manipulations to take advantage of the tensor cores? I have no idea what I'm talking about, just speculating.
