The whole point of this thing seems to be to prove that 21 has actual working technology - the economics of the thing make ZERO sense, way too bloody expensive for what it provides.

I wouldn't even count it as a novelty - too expensive - though some folks buy cars as a novelty 'cause they have more money than sense or more money than they CAN spend.

But it is cool as hell. Even though it's way too expensive, I am sure that it will find its way one day in a Bitcoin museum.

I wouldn't buy it though. For less than a $100 you can get a raspberry pi with the same specifications.

It's basically a "micropayment server" ment for developers. It's not a miner for mining bitcoins.
It's directly connected to the bitcoin network (don't need third party node). And the small amount of btc that is created by mining, is ment for creating transactions.

It's not a money printing machine! Tongue

https://21.co/learn/faq/#what-are-the-full-technical-specifications-of-the-21-bitcoin-chip

50-125Gigahash/s
0.16J/Ghs
price: $400

Now, you can easily compare it to an U3, S5,S7,... or several sidehack sticks Wink

Looking at tradeblock and presuming 125 GH is overclocked and I converted joules correctly (0.16*125 = 20 Joules --> 0.0555 ish watt hours (I am pretty sure I botched that part, but watts aside it looks like no break-even according to tradeblock unless I really push that exchange rate up)

Thanks that helped a lot not sure how to convert that into a Solo-Mine pot shot but if its neg here it really must be low ended odd wise.

I also read that it wasn't breaking even on a couple other threads and fora... But since i couldn't find the exact links, i gave you the specs instead Wink

I think it's more a novelty item, for people that want to play and learn about bitcoin, but certainly not an item to replace your antminers with.

I have noticed the upcoming release of the 21 INC computer and was wondering if it had any useful benefits for miners besides acting as a node. In addition I was wondering what the plausibility would be of solo mining a block with it using the present difficulty, I can't seem to find any mining specs though however the amazon listing has mentioned that it could mine.
