Thank you! It has happened to several people already. Don't know why Strat and Start wallet addresses are compatible. The transaction should of failed.  Undecided

What could be done is the following:

1) Members of the Stratis community who fell victim to the Bittrex deposit generation problem could submit the transactions where they lost their coins, and sign a value with the private key from the originating address to prove they control it.
2) Bittrex provides a list of all START addresses it has generated.
3) The Bittrex addresses are cross-referenced to the Stratis transactions provided in (1) (assuming the coins have never been spent after being "lost" of course) and any matching transactions are reversed in the next hard fork.

I sincerely hope this happens because more than one person has encountered the issue and it's super unfortunate.

I contacted Krushang and he said they were aware of this having happened, but he hasn't responded about the possibility of doing the above fix.

I think there would be community support for this. We just need to get the word out.

As I explained via PM, there is no point in Bittrex giving you the private key unless Stratis and StartCoin use completely identical methods to derive pubkeys and address from private keys.

If their derivation methods are different in any way (ie. different network identifier/version byte(s) used, different hash functions used etc) then I would be willing to bet money that the private key they hold for the StartCoin address would generate a completely different Stratis address.

Essentially, what this boils down to, is that you've sent Stratis to a "random" Stratis address (that just happens to have the same base58 representation as some random Start Coin address that Bittrex apparently control)... whether or not anyone actually has the private keys to this Stratis address is currently unknown.

I hate to say it, but your chances of ever finding or generating the private key to this address are only a fraction of a tenth of not very much. Undecided

Just my luck! Thanks for your insight.

The only way to get them out is if you can somehow get the private key for the Stratis address: sPdkypSpPxyBh1UGpG8ru3Bt5DZUM5Mh99... Undecided

That is the only way you'll be able to create a transaction to 'spend' them that the blockchain will accept.

I asked them for the private key, but Bittrex will not budge. They said that they don't share private keys, but they will try any detailed instructions If I do find out how to retrieve them.

I'm sure a couple of people have heard my story. I sent 22k Strats by mistake to a "Start Coin" address over at Bittrex. Richie over at Bittrex has been very helpful with my situation, but he said that he cannot unlock the coins because the private keys do not match. He said that he is not aware at the moment of how else to unlock them. He has tried several methods. If anyone here (wallet gurus) can help Richie out with that, I will gladly give a percentage of my Strats for their help. As of right now, the Stratis price is climbing with a current price of $10 USD.  Cry Thanks for your cooperation.

I think nothing can be done to your problem because once coin sent to wrong address it get stuck in AIR where it cannot find where to go and so it is stuck in AIR and until if anyone dont break that block chain no one can do anything. You have to accept this hard fact that you have lost it what you have sent it.

The tokens are not in the "AIR", click here. https://chainz.cryptoid.info/strat/tx.dws?721c8447a9d021d6ad3ca39ce99e792b6d89423034de0cbed90d1296574e8315.htm

Hello Crypto Community. I'm sure a couple of people have heard my story. I mistakenly sent 22k Strats to a "Start Coin" address over at Bittrex. Edit: I'll throw in some XEL if you'd prefer.
