How do bittorrent users become part of the tron community?

They don't.

Any one care to explain the point of this acquisition?

Marketing.

They are counting on people either not really reading the article or not really understanding what happened, and just reading that "TRON has 100 million new users!!11", which is blatantly not true.

What a ridiculous story.

TRON bought the BitTorrent client. They did not buy what most people think of when you say BitTorrent - the BitTorrent protocol, which is open source. The BitTorrent client isn't even a good client. It has poor security and is overran with shitty ads.

TRON then decided that all users of BitTorrent are now users of TRON, even though most of them have probably never even heard of it, as an artifical way to boost their numbers.

Just more shady behaviour from the serial plagiarist Justin Sun.

TRON Foundation just announced on its Medium blog this morning the successful acquisition of BitTorrent.

From now onwards, BitTorrent has become part of the TRON ecosystem, making TRON the largest decentralized Internet ecosystem in the world.

Rumors that the acquisition had been completed emerged as early as June 11, when BitTorrent employees reportedly received an email notifying them of the company’s new owner.

Talking about the acquisition of BitTorrent, the founder of TRON, Justin Sun, said:

“The BitTorrent acquisition embodies TRON’s ‘All-In Decentralization’ strategy. TRON and BitTorrent share the same vision for a decentralized Web. I believe BitTorrent will gain new life from integrating into the TRON ecosystem, and TRON will continue BitTorrent’s protocol legacy.”

BitTorrent will continue operating from TRON’s new San Francisco location, which is now the center of operations for the company’s global market expansion.

After BitTorrent was developed in 2001, its global application has only been increasing. And this makes it the first Internet decentralized protocol to achieve that.
