Hey I have not seen it mentioned here yet, BUT..> FINALLY!!!!

Check your forum profile info, specifically "Account Related Settings" - There is FINALLY a new setup for 2FA!! - I highly advise you all here to enable it and use Google auth or whatever you want etc... Backup code is also provided. Wink

Not sure how i missed this, but I think we've basically all been asking for this for years! Tongue

Merry Christmas!

Disable two-factor authentication? [checkbox]
First of all thanks to @theymos and @PowerGlobe. As a result of the efforts and initiatives of the two of them, 2FA Security System was launched on the forum. Now we can protect our account more importantly using 2FA security system.

I made a tutorial on the Beginners and Help thread about the 2FA security system.

Newbies how to use the 2FA security system in the account?

It's great to finally have 2FA in bitcointalk but better read what theymos said... if your email address is compromised attackers can bypass and disable 2FA in your forum account.
Better make sure you have good protection for email that is connected with bitcointalk, maybe with additional 2FA.

If you use the forgotten-password function, then there's an option to remove the 2FA. So 2FA does not provide any protection in case of a compromised email.

Just for reference, this is the post where it was announced

Thanks to PowerGlove, who did 90% of the work on this, the much-requested 2-factor authentication feature has finally been added. You can enable it in your Account Settings, and then you have to give the code when logging in. If you don't have 2FA enabled, you have to leave the OTP field blank when logging in.

If you use the forgotten-password function, then there's an option to remove the 2FA. So 2FA does not provide any protection in case of a compromised email. Make sure that your email address is secure. If you don't want to set an email address, use something like [email protected]; don't use a random nonsense email like [email protected], since somebody might create that domain/email.

Let me know if there are any bugs.

Thank you Theymos!  It took long enough.... but at least you made it happen!
