Yeah - that's what I did with my first three (and only) 6950s - but I did it for the wrong reason (I assumed the memory made a difference in hashing).

If there isn't much difference in price, get a 2 GB one, because if you ever find yourself willing to get rid of your rigs (because mining might stop being profitable) you'll be able to sell it for a higher price (a lot of people think that more VRAM = better GPU performance)

Memory size of graphics cards shouldn't matter when mining, since no textures are being cached while mining. If the factory clock speeds are the same, then it should have nearly same hashing speeds.

Video memory has no impact in mining. In fact, most every underclocks their memory as low as possible in order to reduce volts/heat.

Does anyone know of a site/reference that shows differences between 1GB and 2GB cards?  This one: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison only lists the card (not how much memory).

I'm specifically interested in the hashing rate for a 1GB 5850 or 5870 (since they're pretty cheap).
