You will save money by replacing your mobo and processor with something far, far more efficient (unless you are also cpu mining and have a good rate). My mobo/cpus all max out around 60-80W and generally run more in the 30s. You don't need much cpu power to mine with gpu.

Have you bios modded them? You will also have to take down the core voltage to get them around the 130 mark.

I fully agree with you concerning the PCIe lanes. But there are still 170w to go, to much for a SSD and the CPU fan i think...  Undecided

So i put the meter to the socket to check what is the acutal consumption of my sys and i really was suprized. around 90w in indle, which is okay. but 370w when the miner is running.
is it 370 W, power consumption on the motherboard system?
If yes let's calculate, Processor has 55W TDP, PCIex16 socket on motherboard will supply max 75 W to VGA. PCiex1 will supply a maximum of 25 W to VGA. let's assume you use one PCIex16 and four PCIEx1.

When PCIE mining on board will supply 75 W + 4x25 W + 55 W = 230 W, excluding Fan system, SSD, and additional fan. So the power consumption of 370 W when running the mine is normal.

Thanks sonerbo, i had this in mind. I know each pcie slot can provide up to 75w. From a technical perspective this makes sense. So, when i add this together im up to 180-200w per card. I think this is to much as so many people stated they olny need around 120-130w per card. I don´t think this is only because of bios Mods?

From Pci slots each card can pull 75watts. x1 slots must be same but am not sure. Dont forget only power input is not the power source for the gpu Smiley

i don´t think so. High figures even when i run only one PSU. Originally it was planned to run everything under the Corsair 1000w PSU, but actually i think this is not possible.

I have 2 Power supplies (2x 750) like you may be this is the problem?

Hi all,

I was configuring my rig in the past days. Now i wanted to finalize everything by modding the Bios and adjust the power consumpiton and things like that.
So i put the meter to the socket to check what is the acutal consumption of my sys and i really was suprized. around 90w in indle, which is okay. but 370w when the miner is running. As my 5x RX480s are running on a separate PSU I´m really wondering why the Mainboard needs to put so much power to the PCIe lanes.

Setup is:

ASRock H81 BTC
4gb Ram
Intel G1820 CPU
5x powered risers
FSP Hyper 700 PSU for system powering
Corsair Hx1000 for PSU powering

I read i need to put the 4xMolex pins to the mainboard to support, with and without this option there is no change in the consumption or stability of the system. At the moment I leave it unconnected, as the risers are powered

A lot of people are confirming they´re running their systems with 6 RX*** AMD cards around 700w. My Rig needs 1000w atm. What is wrong with my setup?
