Buying three 1070Tis = £1800, two 1080Tis = £1700.
Although, the price of 1070ti is a £100 difference but you can get 3 GPUs. so price 1070 ti cheaper

The three 1070Ti will get £210/month while the two 1080Ti will get £180/month.
income/month 1070ti greater than 1080ti

the 1070Ti will be easier to power with just a 1x 8pin connector (217W), while the 1080Ti will be more troublesome with a 8+6pin or 8+8pin (250W),
1070ti more energy efficient than 1080ti and I suggest buy 1070ti , great in mining Zcash, Neoscript.

Besides faster ROI think if you want to put more GPUs in the future. 6 1070ti vs 4 1080ti still better on 1070ti but 9 1070ti vs 6 1080ti could already give advantage to 1080ti. Of course you can mix them in the future depending on GPU prices.

Yes they'll take a small hit with new cards but nothing major. Gpus don't increase much from one generation.

You also have to take into account how you intend to build your rigs. Add up all the cost to support running those GPUs and see how much additional cost each GPU will consume. Only then you know the true cost "per GPU"...

Faster Roi = best choice. Take 1070ti, turn it on and forget about it Smiley 1080ti=overprice for now

With the current prices, a 1070Ti with 1x 8pin power connector can be had for ~£600 whereas a 1080Ti can be had for ~£850, none of which come with 1x 8pin power connector. Usually it is 8+6pin or dual8pin.

Some rough profitability calculations puts the 1080Ti at £90/month after electricity and the 1070Ti at £70/months after electricity. That's 9.44 months ROI for the 1080Ti vs. 8.57 months ROI for the 1070Ti. Buying three 1070Tis = £1800, two 1080Tis = £1700. The three 1070Ti will get £210/month while the two 1080Ti will get £180/month.

I guess what I'm asking here is --- is there any reason to opt for a 1080Ti over a 1070Ti given the example above? I want to get 1080Ti but it just seems silly considering the 1070Ti... the 1070Ti will be easier to power with just a 1x 8pin connector (217W), while the 1080Ti will be more troublesome with a 8+6pin or 8+8pin (250W), plus the quicker ROI as well.

Is there an advantage of the 1080Ti at all? Am I missing something here?
