The BIOS update was required for me when building a 4x 7970 rig back in April. Seems not a lot has changed there then.

so have you successfully ran 4 gpu's on the 990fxa-ud3 board?

Try to flash latest BIOS , and you need to try different drivers. Also boot in safe mode and Start+Run - msconfig , than disable in Startup ATI software and try again...

your 100% right the r9 290's wont work with the bios thats factory installed, i need another gpu that will work with current bios so i can update bios to f2.

i posted the same question over on another forum and someone told me i cant run more than 2 gpu's on these boards or ill fry my gpu's (no parts or the board are damaged i tested them with other gpus, ram and motherboards round at a wholesaler near my place), is this correct? i can only run 2 gpus?

gotta wait till after the 27th because im an immigrant in this country of sheep (australia Tongue) and i dont know anyone with a gpu i can use to update my bios

just try 1 motherboard, 1 GPU with monitor, RAM, processor and cables...

Get that to work first then add the other GPUs.

You dont need drivers yet, it should boot straight to your gigabyte motherboard settings

hi everyone,

this is an excellent forum with some well clued up members, a real wealth of information but something i cant find an answer to is a problem im having. im building two 4 x r9 290 rigs and im having some difficulty. im getting no signal to my screen, not just black screen but no signal and on start up one long beep fallowed by 3 short beeps (gigabyte beep bios say faulty keyboard but im sure my keyboards good...) hdd led flashes 1 long fallowed by 2 short flashes about 20 seconds after start up. cpu fans spin and r9 290 fan spins. i have a hdmi from gpu to screen, i have double and triple checked connections, tried switching all 4 x 4gb ram in different slots one at a time two at a time and tried switching gpu slots and tried all 8 gpus. i removed the cmos battery over night and also shorted the cmos jumpers to reset bios but still no signal. im not sure if the rig is reaching bios because i have no signal on screen (just a box saying no signal). i think im starting to go insane... lol

gigabyte ga-990fxa-ud3 motherboard x 2
Kingston 4gb ddr3 1600 ram x 4
ocz gold power supply 1000w x 4
r9 290 sapphire x 5, r9 290 gigabyte x 3
amd sempron 140 and 145 cpu (one of each)
raiser cables x 8

will gpu display graphics without drivers being installed?

this is my first build so im a bit of a newbie but i used anti static wrist strap and have made a frame mdf board and 18x40 timber which holds the rig, if anyone can please help me solve this problem i will show my appreciation by sending some litecoins your way

regards
