+1, Life in post collapse world could be very unpredictable, better hide on the bunker and wait until its calm and the peace and order is back.

Hiding in the bunker will not help. You'll starve to death. Better organize a group consisting of your relatives and close friends. The bigger the group, the more chances you'll have to survive.

there won't BE a collapse, cause of Bitcoin.  if people lose their jobs, it is our responsibility to get them back (those of us who own 10000+ BTC)'s

In case of a collapse, the BTC exchange rate will go back to $0.0008.

Oddly enough in a bitcoin market jobs would probably fluctuate a lot (IF that makes any sense)
Can't imagine an economy that loses jobs if the price drops or rises in bitcoin and requires bailouts more like people will switch and utilize Bitcoin and create more jobs.

In a scenario like that, I see consistent groups of people (say from 20 to 60, either NRA civilians or army or police) heavily armed, who instead or "bartering" will just shoot you dead and take all your precious goods.

The list is incorrect. Why not just list 1000 items to barter?

Because he was talking about the most basic items needed to survive the apocalypse. If you have 60 minutes time and you needs to be prepared for an apocalypse, you will not try to collect 1,000 different items. At the most, you'll get two or three dozen most basic things.

ruger 10/22 with loaded 25 and 50 round magazines and thousands of rounds of ammo (over 10,000)  is all any person needs for a weapon. In a SHTF situation the caliber is not going to matter that much. If you get shot, you are in deep trouble. It's not going to matter how fast the particular caliber kills... chances are you and your adversary will both shoot each other and both die anyways so the best thing is to avoid a confrontation and keep a low profile.  You can kill a deer and large game with a .22... scope and SHOT PLACEMENT and multiple successive rounds are key here. If you are going up against a bear you better be aiming for the head with a 50 round magazine or two though.  BY FAR the cheapest way to stockpile, as .22 LR can be had for 25 bucks for 550 rounds, far cheaper than any other round.. and Ruger 10/22s and their scopes and high capacity mags are cheap and plentiful items.

12 gauge shotgun is also cheap and plentiful ammo

Aside from that...

toilet paper

water filters

water

food

generators

solar ovens

solar battery chargers and batteries or hand crank models

short wave radio

assets in hard metals in a safe place

I'm not sure how I'd handle anarchy.. I would not loot and pillage and would work to protect the innocent though. I'd make a good leader I think... with swift justice against people who would loot, pillage, or harm innocents.

Very interesting topic! Guns and ammo would definitely be valuable.

True.
I didn't quote the end of the article.
The author left off weapons since (in his opinion) if you trade/barter guns and ammo the other person is armed and ready to steal all of your other stuff.......lol?

The revolution will be monetized!
I only need a rifle team and a list of preper addresses.   Wink

There is an incentive to not prepare:
No one can steal my non-existent stash of nothingness.
Meanwhile, knocking at your door:
He he. In reality I would die cowering in the forest of exposure, exacerbated by an abscess tooth.   Cry

There are thousands to barter in the post collapse world. Normal things that we can easily buy now will be very hard find in the post collapse world. Usually scarcity would equate to high demand.

Water purification tabs and canned food should be easy to trade for much of the other stuff Tongue

That will be 1 oz of gold for the water filter.

BUT IT COSTS $12:?!?!?!

Are you thirsty?  That will be 1 oz of gold.

The value of things will turn upside down if something like this every happened.

Although guns would probably become the thing of most value.. :S.

Taking into account that barter is the subject:

More important than the number of items you have is the importance, quantity and quality. For example if you have three or four categories that are extremely scarce and needed (water, solar energy sources, high energy bars, vitamins) in high quantities, you can get whatever you want afterwards. This is good to know if you are not a prepper and you see some signs of "collapse". Then getting all items to survive for months could be very difficult. So go get a few items that you will barter and for surviving a few weeks get some of other stuff until barter is "the norm".

The list is incorrect. Why not just list 1000 items to barter?

Go ahead, how soon can your list be ready?   Cheesy

Here are the other 15 items from the OP:

Condiments and Spices
Paperback books on a variety of subjects
Tobacco and cigarette rolling supplies
Amusements such as playing cards, crossword puzzle books, Sudoku
Pencils & paper
Pepper spray
Garden seeds
Flashlights
Vinegar and baking soda to use in DIY cleaning supplies
Empty spray bottles and squirt bottles
Hand pumps for both air and liquids
Mylar blankets and tents
Hand warmers
Sewing and mending supplies
Knitting or crochet needles and Yarn

The list is a good start, IMO.
Of course you will probably want more than 40 items.

I think knowledge/information would also be very important in the post collapse world. I would try to save my pc/laptop/usb with lots of  medicinal ebooks, engineering ebooks and invention ebooks and all important ebooks, and all how to videos and tutorial. I think this is very important.

Might not be entirely legal, but in a survival scenario, I'd say guns and ammo, too. If you've got extra guns and there are people without them, you could surely get something for them.
In a survival scenario everything is legal Cheesy No government, no rules!

There are places where you just can't find game to shoot, especially near large towns. What will you eat when there are no animals and your food supplies run low?

I wouldn't worry about things I can barter with, but rather who can I trust to barter.
I'm completely unprepared right now, as I live in a flat with running hot water, have no generator, no furnace and food supplies for less than a week. If something happened let's say in winter I'd have a hard time staying alive.

I know what you mean; Even the gas powered furnace needs some electricity for the "starter".
This was a long winter, and some of us are lucky just to be alive.
