I know, it's all being really awkward.
He has sent me the $40 Amazon GC without me actually asking for it and I've checked it on Amazon and it does in fact have $40.
I'm thinking about contacting Amazon Support to check if it's a legit GC and then proceed with the payment.
Edit: I checked with Amazon Chat Support and they told me everything was fine about the gift card and I've purchased it from the user.
