Do you have some sort of a filter turned on for your PMs? I've PMed you twice.

I responded to your PM the same day. Yes, I'm still doing them.

Are you still doing these mods?  I PM'd you about some a few days ago, didn't hear back....let me know, thanks!

Last two batches of 100 completed. I just received 24 more from another customer last night. Parts will be here either today or Monday, so I have a parts available for ~70 more units. (I have thousands of resistors on hand, but I'm buying the Crystals in batches of 100 for now).

Same-day turnaround still available.

Right now, with the current rate of difficulty increase, hashing power is more important than efficiency. Wink

That said, I'll put any crystal you want on there; if you want to under-clock it, that's absolutely an option..

Hm. I would have expected an _underclocking_ service to be more valuable: increase reliability, increase power efficiency. Smiley

I'm in northern Utah (USA).

I've gotten several PMs, enough to justify ordering parts to do 100 of these, so I'm going to order them today. With an order quantity of 100 units, the hardware price drops to .019BTC per erupter, so that brings the cost down to .049BTC per erupter.

If you're doing 10 or more, PM me, and I can give you a much better price on the labor.

I'm going to order the parts this afternoon, so if anybody else would like to have some done, please PM me soon (before 7:00pm Central), so I can be sure to order enough parts. As of now, I'm only going to order enough for 100, but if I get more commitments, I'll order more parts.

Of course, if enough interest is generated, I can place another order tomorrow, and the next day, and the next, but I'm going to reserve parts in the order that requests are received.

I had one person request me to do 4 for them, so I have remaining parts to do 2 more.

As I said, it's no trouble to get more parts if others would like theirs done.

What country are you in that shipping is going to cost $26? I can put all 20 of them in a small flat rate box for $5.15, and you'll have it in 2 days or less...

If you have 20 of them you want done, it will save me a TON of time dealing with shipping (which takes as much time as the actual solder work, so PM me if you're interested in doing more than 1-2, and I can work you out a MUCH better deal. In fact, if there's enough interest I can get a better price on parts, and the price would come down. The .06BTC price stated would be the absolute max.

And, of course, for those who are buying new erupters, why not have them shipped directly to me for the upgrade, and then only pay shipping once? Kill two birds with one stone. Wink

Anyway, like I said, I'm not trying to get rich off the deal, it will just give me something to do during downtime at work (I do IT, and see a fair bit of spare time). My rework station heats to full temp in about 7 seconds, the soldering takes about 2 minutes, so $3-$4 worth of BTC for a little bit of time not spent cruising forums seems more than fair to me, and besides, I enjoy SMD work, and it will distract me from my annoyance over group buys that I'm STILL waiting for refunds over. Grin

Anyway, nobody's gonna get rich off of an overclocked Block Erupter, but a 30% bump in speed for a few bucks would surely be of interest to some.

If there's really no interest, then no worries. That's why I wanted to do an interest gauging thread.

First let me say you are very nice to do this.

Second for BTC0.06 you are not making enough money for the service you are providing.

Third, and sadly, the math just doesn't work for anyone on this (you included)

Let's say I have 20 of these and I pay you BTC1.2 for the upgrade plus BTC0.20 for the freight so BTC1.4 total to get me 2.28 GH more.

For less than BTC1.4 I can buy 8 new Block Erupters and probably the USB Hub to plug them in.

Forgot to add, if you want to send your own parts, if you've already sourced (eg for 'moar overclocking'), I will do the hardware mods for you, but I won't take any responsibility for functionality of parts not supplied by me (or if your parts burn up the erupter). It's possible to go to much faster speeds, with this chip as evidenced by other people's experimentation, but you'll almost certainly need to upgrade your cooling (bigger heatsink, etc).

It's still recommended to use some sort of a usb fan for cooling erupters whether you overclock them or not, but you can get away with the stock cooling setup with going to 447Mhash, which is why it's a good target for basic overclocking.

So, as many are aware, the Block Erupter can be pretty safely and easily overclocked to .447ghash by simply swapping a crystal and a resistor on the device. The resistor is simple with a regular soldering iron, but it'd be damn near impossible to change the crystal without a hot air rework station. I realize that many people who might have an interest in overclocking their erupter won't have the skills or the tools to do this, so I'm considering offering an overclocking service.

I will provide the parts and the labor to upgrade your erupter to .447G/H for 0.006BTC (You pay shipping both ways). I guarantee same-day turnaround, or the labor is free.

This is really just a service to help people out. I'm clearly not even making enough money off of this to cover my time, but I've been a bit of a grump lately, and wanted to offer something back to the community. I've got enough components left over on hand to do a half dozen or so, immediately.

If there's more interest, I'll order more components and have them here by the end of the week.

If anybody has a large number of Block Erupters they'd like upgraded, I'm also willing to take erupters in exchange for 'credit' toward your conversions.

UPDATE: Enough interest has been generated that I'm able to get a break on the parts order. dropping the total price per upgrade to .006BTC

Update: prices have gone up on BTC considerably, so I've adjusted the price for the service accordingly. .006BTC. Includes parts and labor.
