Guess all you want, there is no way to know.  Maybe Silk Road has had a record sales day.

It seems to me a road made of silk wouldn't hold up well to today's cars and SUVs.

someone is just shuffling bitcoins around between their own wallets is my guess. not real exchanges between different people.
